The Cravings Cure by Health Coach Allie:
Why do sugar cravings feel so intense and why is it so hard to stop once we start?
Here are the key insights from Coach Allie’s “The Cravings Cure” workshop:
Why sugar cravings happen:
Cravings often come from gut imbalances, blood-sugar highs and crashes, hormonal shifts, not eating enough whole foods, or simply being stressed and exhausted.
Why it’s hard to stop once we start:
Sugar raises blood sugar very quickly (like shooting to the top of a rollercoaster) and then insulin brings it down just as fast. This creates that up-and-down cycle of “I need more” to feel balanced again.
How lifestyle drives cravings:
Coach Allie teaches the concept of the energetics of food (yin and yang). Busy, high-stress, high-tension days, plus too much exercise or staying up late create more “yang” energy in the body. To rebalance, the body naturally craves more “yin” foods like sugar, alcohol, and bread.
Emotional cravings are real:
When life feels overwhelming or unfulfilling, sugar becomes an easy comfort. Cravings can actually be signals pointing to areas of your life that need more support, rest, or nourishment.
Simple ways to reduce cravings:
Stay hydrated, get more sleep, balance protein and fibre, reduce excess caffeine, add naturally sweet whole foods, move your body, and build new post-meal rituals that don’t revolve around dessert.
And one gentle reminder:
If you choose something sweet, eat it consciously and enjoy it, without guilt.
