Tendonitis is a common condition that occurs when the tendons become inflamed or irritated. Symptoms of tendonitis typically include pain and tenderness in the affected area, which may worsen with movement. Swelling and a grating or crackling sensation when moving the joint are also common.

Some tendons are more prone to inflammation due to overuse or repetitive motions. The most commonly affected tendons include the rotator cuff in the shoulder, the Achilles tendon in the ankle, and the tendons in the elbow (often referred to as tennis elbow or golfer’s elbow). Tendonitis can also impact the wrists, knees, and hips, depending on the activities and stressors involved.

At Tawa Physical therapy, we use a variety of modalities for treatment and management tendonitis. Treatment plans may include exercises to strengthen the surrounding muscles, manual therapy to improve mobility and reduce pain, and modalities such as ultrasound or shockwave therapy to accelerate healing. Additionally, a physiotherapist can provide advice on activity modifications and ergonomics to mitigate the discomfort

Beyond immediate treatment, we will advise you on an exercise program that focuses on improving flexibility, strength, and posture to minimize the risk of future flare-ups. With the right care and guidance, you can recover from tendonitis and return to your daily activities without the fear of ongoing pain or injury.

Client Testimonial:
I came to this clinic few weeks ago because of knee pain. After attending physiotherapy sessions with physiotherapist Suman, knee pain was completely gone. Now I am able to enjoy all the physical activities that I used to do without fearing about knee pain. I would like to say great thanks to my physiotherapist Suman and the whole team ! -Lovedeep S.

May is national physiotherapy month in Canada.
🇨🇦🇨🇦
This year, the theme from the Canadian Physiotherapy Association is advocating for the removal of barriers to allow physiotherapists to effectively use their full scope of practice to advocate for their patients and reduce the cost of health care in Canada.

They have produced several position papers about the national scope of practice definition for physiotherapy and the economic impact of physiotherapy in the country. For more infomation, visit the site listed below.
