Anxiety doesn’t always show up as panic or visible distress. Often, it’s quieter — and easier to miss.

It can look like:
✨ Over-preparing for everything “just in case”
✨ Struggling to rest without guilt
✨ Feeling restless, tense, or on edge
✨ Saying “I’m fine” while your mind is running nonstop
✨ Avoiding decisions for fear of getting it wrong
✨ Needing control to feel safe

From the outside, things might look “together.” On the inside, it can feel like constant scanning, thinking, and bracing.

Anxiety is more than a feeling — it’s a nervous system trying to protect you. 💛

“Why do I always end up exhausted in relationships?” 💭

Boundaries are often learned when we are young. If you grew up believing your needs came second, that keeping the peace mattered most, or that being “helpful” made you worthy — you may now find yourself overextending at the expense of your own wellbeing.

Over time, this can show up as resentment, burnout, people-pleasing, anxiety, or depression.

Healthy boundaries are not about pushing people away. They’re about creating relationships where care, respect, and responsibility go both ways. 💛

Learning to adjust your boundaries can help you build healthier relationships, reconnect with your needs, and create a more fulfilling life.

Feelings are not facts — but they are data. 🧠💛

Your emotions can tell you that something matters, feels unsafe, overwhelming, exciting, painful, or unresolved.
They deserve curiosity, not shame.

But feelings are not always evidence of the full story. Anxiety can say “you’re failing.” Shame can say “you’re too much.” Fear can say “don’t try.”

Instead of asking, “Is this feeling right or wrong?”
Try asking:
✨ What is this feeling trying to tell me?
✨ What do I need right now?
✨ Is this emotion based in the present moment or an old wound?

You can validate your emotions without letting them define reality.

A few reminders for your toolkit:
✨ Rest is productive
✨ Boundaries protect your wellbeing

Six years of Strathearn Psychology 🤍

What started as an idea has grown into a space for connection, healing, and meaningful work. Over the past six years, we’ve had the privilege of walking alongside so many individuals through their stories: holding space for growth, resilience, and change.

This month, we’re celebrating not just the milestone, but the people who made it possible like our clients, community, and team.

Thank you for trusting us, supporting us, and being part of this journey.

Here’s to continued growth, deeper understanding, and many more years ahead.

As part of our Humans of Strathearn series, we’re getting to know William Fraser, Registered Psychologist at Strathearn Psychology.

One of his go-to regulation tips: pendulation

Pendulation is the gentle practice of moving your attention between discomfort and a sense of safety or calm.

Instead of staying stuck in overwhelm, you shift back and forth—allowing your nervous system to process stress in a more manageable way.

Think:
→ Notice the tension
→ Then anchor into something steady (your breath, your body, your surroundings)
→ Then gently return

Over time, this builds capacity, resilience, and a greater sense of control.

Because regulation isn’t about avoiding hard feelings—it’s about learning how to move through them.

As part of our Humans of Strathearn series, we’re getting to know William Fraser, Registered Psychologist at Strathearn Psychology.

One of his favourite intake questions:
“What is your goal—and what strengths do you already have to accomplish it?”

This question gently shifts the focus from what’s wrong → what’s already working.

Because therapy isn’t just about challenges—it’s about recognizing the strengths you bring with you.
