Why Does My Back Hurt?
Whether you're dealing with chronic or acute back pain, one thing is certain-continuing to take pain medication to get through your day isn't a long-term solution.
If you're not sure what's causing your back pain, here are a few common culprits we see often.
✨️Bad posture. Keeping your spine properly positioned all day is hard work. For most of us, slouching happens when we use our phones, computers or even watch television. When we fall out of proper posture, the muscles in your back can start to hurt.
✨️Scoliosis. Our spine has a natural curve-but some people have an additional curvature that can cause problems. Scoliosis can be mild, moderate, or severe.
✨️Your mattress. How long have you been sleeping on your current mattress? If it's been longer than 7 years, your mattress has likely lost its support and it may be time to purchase a new one.
✨️Old injuries. Have you ever been in a car accident? Or played sports? Injuries that are months, years and even decades old can cause problems present day. Why? It's possible that if the injury never had the chance to heal properly, your body overcompensated for the injury, resulting in problems today that are finally expressing themselves. Fortunately, identifying the root cause of the injury can often lead to success in care.
✨️Stress. When you're stressed, your muscles tighten. If chronic stress is a part of your life, so are tight muscles around the clock. As you can imagine, tense muscles that last for weeks on end can easily cause pain in the body.
We can help you uncover underlying damage to your physical body while helping you identify some of the every day culprits adding to your back pain.
At Oxford Wellness Clinic, we dive deep to uncover the root cause of your problem while developing a care plan that serves you and your unique needs.

As a chiropractor, it's no secret that we see patients who suffer from pain and stiffness every day. Sometimes, that pain and stiffness can be attributed to a lack of movement in their daily lives. While many of us have sedentary jobs or lifestyles, it’s important to make movement a priority in order to maintain health and wellbeing.
Movement is essential for maintaining a healthy body and mind. It can improve circulation, strengthen muscles, and reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. Movement can also help alleviate stress and anxiety, improve mood, and boost cognitive function.
Unfortunately, many of us spend a large portion of our day sitting, whether it’s at a desk, in a car, or on the couch. This can lead to a host of health problems, including poor posture, muscle imbalances, and joint stiffness. That’s why it’s important to find ways to incorporate movement into our daily lives, even if we have sedentary jobs or lifestyles.
👏Take a Walk Break. Instead of taking a coffee break, take a walk break. Even a 10-15 minute walk can help improve circulation and reduce stress. If you’re working from home, take a walk around the block or do a few laps around your house.
👏Find a Movement Buddy. Finding a friend or coworker who is also interested in movement can be a great way to stay motivated. You can take walking breaks together, do deskercises together, or even join a fitness class.
👏Practice Active Sitting. This can be done on an exercise ball or cushion, which requires you to engage your core and balance.
👏Use a Pedometer or Fitness Tracker. Setting a daily step goal will help you challenge yourself and offer motivation to move more.
👏Walk and Talk. When taking phone calls, try walking around your office or home, or even pacing in place. This can help increase your daily step count and keep your body moving throughout the day.
