September 30 – National Day for Truth and Reconciliation & Orange Shirt Day
Both National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day take place on September 30.
Orange Shirt Day, led by Indigenous communities, raises awareness about the intergenerational impacts of residential schools. It honours the children who never returned home and the Survivors, families, and communities forever affected.
The orange shirt is a powerful symbol of the loss of culture, freedom, and self-esteem that many Indigenous children experienced. It reminds us that Every Child Matters.
On September 30, we encourage everyone to wear orange in honour of the Survivors and to reflect on our shared responsibility toward truth and reconciliation.
