Welcome to the website tour! How many times did I re-record my voiceover? A few… before I remembered it doesn’t have to be perfect. Authenticity > Perfection

did such AMAZING work on my website, I just had to show more. Check out the links in the bio if something caught your eye and you want to explore more.

We’ve been busy behind the scenes the last few months.

The Canopy is our blog, rooted in curiosity, care, and the quiet work of becoming. Here, you’ll find reflections on healing, relationships, identity, and the in-between spaces we don’t always have words for.

Like any canopy, it’s meant to offer shelter, perspective, and connection, while letting light filter through.

It’s been an opportunity for me to nurse a creative side I didn’t realize I had. Many of these posts have a personal touch to them. Check out the link in my bio to further explore on my website. From my home to yours.

I am so genuinely blown away by all the love and support for my website! I am extremely proud of it, but it is definitely nerve wrecking to share something so special with the world. Anytime I need a reminder on why I am doing this, I will return to this post to remind myself of just how supported I am.

The following is just a sample of the feedback I’ve received from family, friends, and colleagues. Truthfully, one of the biggest honours is the very first screenshot. From my 91 year old grandmother 🥹

Thank you so much for joining this journey. And if you haven’t already, the website is ready to be explored…

Hello! It’s me! My name is Samantha, and I am the psychologist behind Oak & Acorn Therapy.

I thought I’d reintroduce myself here and share a bit about my work and myself.

A little about my work:
• I work with children ages 2 and up. Supporting our littlest humans has been a dream of mine for years, and I feel incredibly grateful to do this work every day.
• I also work with adults, including first responders and caregivers. I find this work just as meaningful, after all, grown ups deserve care too.
•I specialize in trauma, and work with a wide variety of presenting concerns. This includes: self-esteem, anxiety, depression, trauma and stress related disorders, emotional regulation, neurodivergence, childhood trauma, mood disorders, identity, grief, among so much more.
• I became a psychologist because I’m endlessly curious about people and feel honoured to walk alongside others as they move toward their goals.

Swipe to see the other side of me.

Thanks for being here. I’m glad you found your way to this little corner of the internet.

If you have any questions, or curious about starting your self-worth journey, check out the links in my bio.

Every oak tree begins as an acorn. 🌰

I am so honoured to announce the opening of my private practice, Oak & Acorn Therapy, starting in person, February 2, 2026.

This practice started as a quiet idea, shaped by years of listening, learning, and sitting with people in their hardest moments.

What began as a seed has slowly taken root, and I’m ready to share its growth. The past few months I have grown in the virtual space, and am ready for the next stages. I have the privilege of working with people across the lifespan, from little acorns to mighty oak trees.

Thank you to the clients, colleagues, friends, and family who helped nurture this journey.

Checkout my booking page in my bio, and stay tuned for my website announcement! 🌳

It is an absolute honour to walk along side humans as they process the hardest parts of their past and present. EMDR is one of approaches used at Oak & Acorn Therapy.

Sometimes our brains don’t get a chance to finish processing hard experiences. They stay “stuck,” and suddenly the past shows up in the present with big feelings, body reactions, or thoughts that don’t quite make sense.

EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that helps your brain do what it’s naturally meant to do: heal and make sense of things. Using gentle back-and-forth movements, EMDR helps memories feel less intense and less overwhelming over time.

You don’t forget what happened, it just stops hijacking your nervous system.

Healing isn’t about erasing the past.
It’s about feeling safer in the present.

POV: Me 5 years ago, relaxing, enjoying my weekend
Also me: “Did I even do enough this weekend to relax? Did I forget something for Monday? Am I behind on life??”
Debating if I should:
A) Make a to-do list
B) Cry in the shower
C) Move away and start a new job
D) All of the above

Does this sound like your usual Sunday routine?
Personally, this used to be a much bigger problem in my earlier years (hello case management work and government work). And I have since learned different things that work for me in summiting the scaries.

Sunday Routine:
•Something(s) you do every Sunday to keep routine and feel accomplished. I (try) to meal prep for the 3 days a week that I work evenings. I also try to have any cleaning I want done finished by Sunday so that I am also available for spontaneity.

Something to look forward to:
•Plan something to look forward to on Mondays. I’ve set up my work schedule so that I can sleep in a bit on Mondays and that’s been amazing for me.

Self-Care Sundays
•Filling your Sunday with things that bring you joy
•Focusing on and prioritizing yourself
•Reflection
•Intentional movement
•I like to plan a delicious meal on Sundays, and also have a thorough and invigorating shower/skin care/hair care routine on Sundays.

Feeling like the scaries are taking over your Sundays? Therapy may be a great option to explore to help you get to the bottom of, and work through them. Check out the link in my bio to learn more.

Catch me between sessions cleaning up after the most beautiful, imaginative world was created, allowing a child to process and express themselves through play.

Play Therapy is the main approach used when working with children at Oak & Acorn Therapy.

Through play, therapists may help children learn more adaptive behaviors when there are emotional or social skill issues (Pedro-Carroll & Reddy, 2005).

In play therapy, children learn to communicate with others, express feelings, modify behavior, develop problem-solving skills, and learn a variety of ways of relating to others. Play provides safe psychological distance from their problems and allows expression of thoughts and feelings appropriate to their development (Landreth, 2023).
