Unfortunately, Disability Action Hall, along with other spaces, has now been closed as a result of recent decisions by the UCP government.

For many people with disabilities, these spaces were more than just groups. They were places to connect, share information, support one another, and organize around the issues that affect our lives.

While nothing can truly replace what those communities meant to people, the People's Alliance for Disabled Albertans (PADA) wants to make sure that individuals with disabilities still have a place to land during this uncertain time.

PADA exists to support, connect, and amplify the voices of disabled Albertans. If you’re looking for a supportive community and a place to stay informed and engaged, we welcome you to join our family.

📢 Call for Participation: ADAP Research Study

PADA has been asked to help share an important research study led by researchers at the University of Calgary examining income supports and employment for persons with disabilities in Alberta.

With the Alberta Disability Assistance Program (ADAP) set to launch in July 2026, this study is working to establish a pre-launch baseline and track real-world impacts over time. This kind of evidence matters — especially when policies are changing fast and disabled people are too often left out of the evaluation process.

The Government of Alberta’s creation of the Alberta Disability Assistance Program (ADAP) will cut monthly supports by $200, plunging thousands further into poverty and undoing decades of progress supporting Albertans with disabilities. 19 former leaders and advisors to government disability programs have written an open letter calling for the cancellation of this program. https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/8dcf66419cc7314a924853990a717a62d14c6f22?hash=e3ab6d9283260521a5acb4a1180f043c

Alberta launches
$185M employment service program
“This program will fulfill the
ADAP employment supports - not just for ADAP, but this is how we are going to manage the resources that we invest in employment supports for
ADAP” - Jason Nixon

In an interview with Postmedia, Assisted Living and Social Services Minister Jason Nixon said the tools employment service organizations use will be the same for someone with a disability and those without. He said tools will be
adjusted to meet individual needs.

“I have to stress the decision by the Alberta government to invest $185 million of this budget alone into this space is really unprecedented and I think really shows the commitment of the Alberta government to want to invest significantly in helping individuals who want to pursue
employment within the disability community.” — Jason Nixon (again!)
