The first week of January marks the beginning of the year for me. Time off from clients but so much work to be done regardless. Inventories, end of year taxes, “spring” cleaning (more like winter cleaning lol), reorganization and a clean up of all products, making this years schedule and so on… As I sit here reflecting on last year, how much of a hell of a year I had… I cant believe I survived (barely 😅). So many time I wanted to give up but didn’t. Truthfully I have no idea where I found the energy to keep going. But there’s one thing I know for sure, is that I owe everything to my clientele. You guys are the reason why I have a roof over my head, a safe and reliable car, healthy food for me and my family and so much more. You guys are my bread and butter and I wouldn’t change a thing ❤️ I’m so extremely grateful for every client who came to see me this year and every student that was there at my classes. Without you nothing would be possible. And for that… THANK YOU 💜 May this year bring you hope, joy, health and on top of it all, that all your wildest dreams come true !

How many times do we say… if I would have known 😅

In the business of nails they are many things to learn from, from the business aspect to the actual work, I’ve made MANY mistakes in the past, but the important part is learning from them and not repeating them.

🔺Being scared to take the leap and starting your business
🔺Trying to build a clientele
🔺Having a good cancelation policy
🔺Setting regular hours and learning how to say NO
🔺Getting a better education to elevate yourself to another level
🔺finding the right company to work with
🔺Learning how to do nail art
🔺Increasing speed
🔺Better retention
🔺Buying « trend » products that goes into the drawers without ever coming back ( don’t lie we’ve ALL DONE THIS 🤣)

They are a million more of these example of subjects that we all struggle with.

For me? Setting a cancelation policy, making a regular schedule and learning how to say “NO”, was one of the hardest things to learn. And I still struggle with to this day !

And you know what guys ?

It’s ok!! ♥️

TOP 3 MISTAKES

1. This is the most common one ☝🏼 SPEED !
Not using the right speed for your bit can damage your clients nails, cause heat and will damage your bits. This is why choosing an E-File that goes up to 30-35K RPM is important.

2. Not using the right type of bit for the job you need done.
You can damage your bits and waste precious time getting the job done which can both result in loosing money 💰

3. Not using the right grit.
For example, using a fine sanding band to debulk the nail will result in a lot of heat which can be painful for your client.
Or, using a coarse grit on the natural nail. This will cause damage to the natural nail and it can unfortunately be permanent.

CALLING ALL NAIL TECHS 🗣️

As many of you may know, my e-file beginner class will be launching on May 19-20 in person at .ca. I’m hoping that I will be able to have it available online by the end of June 😊

Now I need your opinion !

I want to know what your struggles are, what you need help with, with the e-file. If you are interested in the classe, whether at a different location or when it’s available online, you’ll also be the first to know ! My Google form is available to fill now in French and English.

I also need your opinion on the class, whether you plan on taking it or not. Or even if you are comfortable with the e-file, I would love to know how you feel about it. You can even fill it anonymously, just leave the e-mail part empty and put “anonymous” on the “your name” section.

I get these messages on a regular basis !!! 😕

After all these years in the business I can tell you that speed and retention a the 2 main issue for building a loyal clientele.

Speed: Removal, prep and finish filling shouldn’t be what’s taking you longer. Investing in a good e-file and the proper bits can save you so much time so you can spend more on nail art and bring that extra cash 💰

Retention: Knowing what kinda products using on each of your clients is so important. Not everyone is the same so the same products won’t have the same results. Instead try using a more pliable gel on clients with softer nails. Or an acid primer on those stubborn lifters. Clients will go longer between appointments and will be happy 😃

How would it make you feel if you found out your clients feel this way ?

Fixing these 2 issues CAN and WILL bring you extra cash, who wouldn’t want that ?
