Yoga Therapy - Fall Prevention Through Strength, Balance, and Body Awareness

This 6-week Yoga Therapy series is designed to support students in improving balance, building functional strength, and increasing body awareness to help reduce the risk of falls. The program takes a progressive, educational approach, guiding participants step-by-step from developing awareness of their body in space to building strength, stability, and confidence in movement.

Each 80-minute class combines gentle, accessible yoga-based movement with breathwork, balance training, and guided awareness practices. The series focuses on real-life movement patterns such as standing, walking, and transitioning in and out of a chair, making it highly practical and applicable to daily life.

Students will learn how to:
✨Improve proprioception (awareness of body position)
✨Develop strength in the feet, legs, hips, and core
✨Enhance balance and coordination
✨Maintain stability during dynamic movement
✨Build confidence and reduce fear around falling

Classes are small and supportive, with options for all levels. Props such as chairs, blocks, straps, and the wall are incorporated to ensure safety and accessibility.

This series is ideal for older adults, individuals returning to movement after injury, or anyone looking to improve balance, stability, and confidence in their body.

We are so very excited to be offering you a full weekend of FREE classes at the end of May!!

Join some of our studio teachers for a special class treat as well as new teacher trainees for their first ever public class as they teach to the public for our final training weekend.

Classes will run Friday May 29th, Saturday the 30th and Sunday the 31st with two classes each day 12 PM and 5:30 PM. There is no cost to any of these and they’re available to book on the Momence app.

No Rise & Shine or Pilates tomorrow. Everything else is happening and on schedule including a Yoga for Nurses for Nurse’s Week! The hospital here in Elliot Lake and the staff that work there, as well as nurses at the Manor have been a huge supporter of our studio since day 1. Thank you for all you do! We are so grateful for our local nurses and health workers. ❤️

Did you know we offer yoga therapy here at the studio as well as public and private yoga therapy sessions? Nadia is C-IYAT certified. This is a specialty offering that requires 3-4 years of in-depth training and over 1000 hours of work!

Our next yoga therapy series will kick off in June and will be taught by our very yoga therapist in training - ! Stephanie is in the midst of many yoga therapy courses and as part of her training will be offering group classes at the studio. These classes are not covered by your membership and will be set up as a workshop series as they are very specialized.

We have TWO new classes on the schedule with Debra this month and both start this week (today actually).

1st up is the Pause & Reset from 12-1 PM TODAY and every Tuesday. Yin Yang Yoga blends two styles of yoga into one practice – bringing together the benefits of passively holding yoga poses with more dynamic sequences and standing postures.

Yin and Yang are the Taoist concepts which describe the two relative qualities present in everything. Yin is more internal, passive, cooling and downward. Yang is more external, dynamic, warming and upward.

WEDNESDAY is our new Pilates Sculpt - 45 from 6:45-7:30 PM.

Pilates Sculpt is a dynamic, low-impact class that fuses traditional Pilates principles with light resistance training using dumbbells and bands. Designed to target the core, glutes, and arms, this full-body workout moves at a slightly quicker pace than classic Pilates to build endurance and enhance muscle tone.

Expect a rhythmic, music-driven flow that incorporates both mat and standing work, with controlled pulses, holds, and plank variations to create a deep, effective burn. The focus remains on alignment, precision, and breath, so you strengthen without strain and leave feeling both energized and balanced.

New to Reformer Pilates? Join us Tuesday morning from 9:00-10:00 AM (we have 3 spots open for tomorrow).

This class is the perfect place to start. Learn the basics of the machine, proper alignment, and foundational exercises in a supportive, easy-to-follow format. Build strength, flexibility, and confidence at a comfortable pace.

For an extra challenge join us at 10:15 AM for a Beginner/Intermediate Reformer (suitable if you’ve taken 10 classes minimum). One spot left for tomorrow!

Ooof do we have a week coming up for you!

Debra Maher is BACK from her international travels and so is Pause & Reset Yoga Tuesdays at noon.

NEW to the schedule is a Pilates Sculpt 45 min class before Yin on Wednesdays (this will replace Sculpt & Burn for the summer).

Reformer takes its place with regular timing on Tuesday and Thursday we have 1 class 10:30-11:30 AM. Why? Wr are in full yoga teacher training mode all weekend.

🎼We also have a sound bath Saturday night that is sold out at the moment (add yourself to the waitlist).

How much did you love that deep tissue fascia release this morning? I’m still feeling oh so good….what a great entry to the weekend.

Due to popular demand we have added TWO more Myofascial Workshops to the schedule. Join us on May 23rd or June 13th from 10 AM-12 PM for a full body myofascial release treatment. This time we will be introducing another tool in our arsenal.
