Elliot Lake Yoga - Algoma Country's very own yoga studio. At United Yoga and Movement, we believe life should be joyous. Located in the heart of Elliot Lake, our new studio is a unique hub where you can reconnect with yourself and our vibrant community. Led by Nadia Carriere, our studio offers a sanctuary to explore health, vitality, and personal growth through yoga, pilates, sound therapy and various forms of holistic movement, classes and workshops.

I wanted to take a minute to put something into perspective. Not just for our studio, but also the gyms in town and what they offer. We have two gyms and .muscle.factory in our community that offer classes and some of the best equipment around (rivalling gyms in the big cities).

We have yoga classes taught by yoga teachers that invest in their education (in the thousands) to serve you more. We have one yoga therapist and another currently in training. Certified Pilates instructors and Reformer Pilates with some of the best equipment in the world.

Cost is subjective and requires perspective - here’s a few examples.

☕️🍩1 coffee and 1 donut or muffin from Tim Hortons daily = $120 a month

💆🏻A single massage = $100-$140 for 1 hour

🍻🍜 2 alcoholic drinks and a dinner out once a week x 4 weeks $200

🚬 1 pack of ci******es $15 x however many you choose to smoke a week

🌿 W**d every night - $60 a week or $240 a month ++

🍷 1 bottle of wine twice a week $200 a month

🧘‍♀️ 1 yoga/pilates studio membership of unlimited classes and physical therapy up to 40+ a week- $136 or $108 for seniors

🏋️‍♂️1 gym membership (we have two amazing gyms in town) $30-$50 a month

We choose what we spend our money on and why. How much is your health worth? The only difference between everything listed above and fitness/health is it requires you to WORK.

To get rid of excuses, move things around in your schedule and choose an experience that requires you to dig deep and gain strength with effort.

Everything else that’s easy? Doesn’t require any effort at all. It’s pure convenience.

We spend money on what matters. How much is your health worth? How much does it matter to you? What are you choosing, and how are those choices going to affect you in the upcoming years?

Everything is the result of an accumulation of choices. Multiple choices over and over again. No one can care more about your health than you. Remember that.

HAPPY MARCH! We are in winter’s home stretch!

This week looks a little different so check it out. We have Gentle Yoga on Friday as there will be no reformer classes after Tuesday for a couple weeks.

Our 45 minute Sculpt & Burn has moved to 6:45 PM start time on Wednesday and Yin Yoga starts at 7:45 PM.

Also - Somatic Yoga is BACK! Join Raquelle on Sundays at 5 PM.

Thursdays is our Flow & Stretch where we alternate teachers. It’s a fun way to try out different styles of teaching with a strong yoga flow.

We hope to see you soon in studio and on your mats :).

Ready to train with intention? Sculpt & Burn is an incredible 45 minute workout that uses low impact strength and conditioning exercises that are heavy on the weights. It is highly effective with fast results! You’ll find yourself gaining strength after the first 2 sessions.

This class focuses on strengthening the glutes, stabilization of hips and knees and leans out the lower body while supporting true body strength. We also strengthen the deep core while supporting the spine and improving posture.

We offer this class twice a week on Fridays at 6:30 AM and are moving our Thursday 12 PM class to Wednesdays at 6:30 PM!

Can you believe this is the last week of February?

Our 3rd class from the Beginner Series kicks off on Monday again, and Warm Red Light is taking its turn on Thursday night!

No reformer classes on Friday and no classes all weekend due to our Yoga Teacher Training immersion that kicks off this week!

The best time to start taking care of yourself is now. Each day is a brand new opportunity to choose YOU! We can’t wait to see you at the studio :).

We have two classes today. At noon, Gentle Yoga will include practices to help reduce chronic back, shoulder and hip pain with several yoga therapy tecniques, as well as movements and poses to increase flexibilty in the body and mind. Tonight, Yin Yoga kicks off in its new 7:30 PM time slot. This class offers long holds and is the ideal before bedtime practice. Tonight we are focusing on internal stability and strength. The entire sequence is designed around the energetics of the Year of the Horse for traditional Chinese New Year (day one kicked off yesterday!).

Also our morning yoga class has had low attendance so we will be cancelling it until Apr. Hoping to bring it back!

Healthy mind, healthy heart, healthy life. Love is all you need and inspires us to be better to ourselves so we can serve others with even fuller hearts.

We have two heart-full classes this weekend before we close for Family Day! The next three days are dedicated to those we love most. ❤️
