Human trafficking is not just a global issueโ€”it happens here in Canada, too. Thousands of people are trafficked every year for sexual exploitation, forced labour, and other forms of abuse. The vast majority of police-reported human trafficking cases in Canada involve Canadian-born women and girls, many of whom are under the age of 25 (Statistics Canada, 2020).

๐Ÿ‘‰ Trafficking thrives in silence.
Today, we raise awareness, honour survivors, and call for action.

What you can do:
๐Ÿ”น Learn the signs of trafficking
๐Ÿ”น Support survivor-led organizations
๐Ÿ”น Challenge myths and stigma
๐Ÿ”น Share resources and speak up

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Native Womenโ€™s Association of Canada โ€“ Anti-Trafficking Initiatives
๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Public Safety Canada โ€“ National Strategy to Combat Human Trafficking

Together, we can build communities that are safer, more informed, and empowered to protect one another. ๐Ÿ’™

Today is a reminder that self-care is not selfish โ€” itโ€™s essential.

Whether itโ€™s setting healthy boundaries, seeking connection, resting when you need to, or saying โ€œnoโ€ without guilt โ€” your wellbeing matters.

๐ŸŒž Self-care looks different for everyone:
โœ” Taking a walk on the land
โœ” Turning off your phone
โœ” Talking to a trusted friend or Elder
โœ” Practicing your culture or spirituality
โœ” Drinking water and nourishing your body

In the world of caregiving, advocacy, and community support โ€” letโ€™s not forget to care for ourselves, too. We cannot pour from an empty cup.

๐Ÿ’ฌ What does self-care mean to you?

๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ Sit with it.

Not everything needs to be fixed right away.
Not every feeling needs to be pushed aside.
Sometimes, the bravest thing we can do is pause and feel.

โœจ "Healing happens by feeling." โ€“ Dr. Rebecca Ray

Let this be your gentle reminder:
You donโ€™t have to rush the process. You just have to stay present.

๐Ÿ’› Breathe. Acknowledge. Sit with it.

Who holds power? Who is pushed to the margins?

This Wheel of Power and Privilege invites us to reflect on how systems of privilege and marginalization shape our everyday lives.

๐ŸŒ The closer you are to the centre, the more societal power you likely hold.
โš ๏ธ The further out you are, the more likely you are to face discrimination, barriers, or exclusion.

๐Ÿ‘€ Take a moment to look at the categories:
โžก๏ธ Citizenship
โžก๏ธ Skin colour
โžก๏ธ Gender
โžก๏ธ Language
โžก๏ธ Mental health
โžก๏ธ Body size
โžก๏ธ Sexuality
โžก๏ธ Ability... and more.

โœ… This tool is not about guiltโ€”itโ€™s about awareness. Understanding how intersectionality works is key to creating equitable and inclusive communities.
