When you attend your first appointment, we ask that you bring all your private insurance information with you & health card, Our front desk staff will work with your insurance company to determine whether or not your plan allows for direct billing.

Most private insurance companies such as Medavie Blue Cross, Sunlife, and Canada Life allow for direct billing.

* If your plan allows for direct billing we will submit your covered portion directly to your insurance company and you will only be responsible for the portion they will not cover (your co-payment).

* If your plan or insurance company does NOT allow direct billing, we will provide you with a receipt when you pay that has all the information on it that you would need to submit to your insurance company or save for income tax purposes.

❗️In addition to private insurance plans, we also work very closely with WCB and MVA insurance claims and will work with you every step of the way!

Physiotherapists are direct access practitioners, meaning patients can visit physiotherapists directly (self-referral) without waiting for a physician’s referral.

Physiotherapy self-referral benefits both patients and the health care system!

Benefits include:
-Timely access to care, which can lead to faster diagnosis and treatment
-Improved health outcomes since early intervention and treatment can result in better outcomes, especially for conditions that require immediate attention
-Higher patient satisfaction
-Reduced time loss for additional appointments
-Reduced volume of referrals to specialists
-Self-referred patients miss less work
-Self-referred patients use less prescription drugs, have fewer x-rays, and require fewer visits to their physician
-Reduced health care costs overall

Most private insurance plans in Nova Scotia do not require a physician’s referral to access physiotherapy services. Check your plan to confirm what your coverage requires and then book your physiotherapy appointment.
