Today we did some really cool exploring 🌿🦎🌋
All of it will make its way into a video when we get home (including an iguana who seemed to reallllllly like us and bubbling mud pools… which were SO interesting 😳). If you’re wondering where we are… you’ll have to watch the video 😉
But what I actually want to share about today is our neighbours.
We’re staying in an Airbnb with two units and the owners’ home. Ruby and I have the little casita, and next door are Rob and Linda from New Jersey — a lovely couple in their late 70s who have been coming here for 30 years 😳🫶
They’re warm, kind, and just genuinely good people. But something Linda said when we first met really stuck with me.
They run a “country house” in the U.S. (kind of like a bed and breakfast) where they host international guests all year… and then they come here for five weeks every year to relax and replenish.
And it got me thinking…
What if the whole idea of retiring and stopping work completely isn’t actually the healthiest model?
What if the real goal is finding something you love doing… and then doing it for as long as you want — not because you have to, but because you get to?
With pauses along the way to rest and refill.
As an entrepreneur, I know the pressure that comes from not having a pension or employer contributions. It holds a lot of people back from choosing the work they truly want to do.
But clearly… there are other ways to live.
Linda also told me how much they still enjoy this time together every year ❤️
And moments like this are exactly why I love travelling — not just for the places, but for the people and the perspectives that make you stop and think.
Some really good things to think about here ✨💫
