Point-of-care access to medical imaging!

We now have direct access to medical imaging through eHealth Saskatchewan. Meaning we can review your X-rays in clinic, not just the written report.

This is a meaningful upgrade for the patients we see most: knees, spines, hips, and feet. Reports don't always tell the whole story. This helps improve our communication and decision-making with a sharper view.

Calling Saskatchewan families and clinicians

A research team at the University of Saskatchewan is studying pediatric walking assessment across our province . Looking at where the gaps are, what's working, and how services could better support kids and families.

If your child lives with a disability, injury, or diagnosis that affects how they walk (or you're a parent or support person of one), your experience matters here. The same goes for allied health professionals and physicians who work with these kiddos.

January is International Quality of Life Month.

Quality of life means different things to different people, but for amputees, it often depends on long-term care, access to properly fitted artificial limbs, and ongoing support as needs change over time.

Since 1918, The War Amps has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for Canadian amputees by providing essential funding for artificial limbs and advocating for amputees’ rights.

This month, we will be focusing on what quality of life really looks like and how your support helps make it possible.

Why Do People Get Foot Orthotics?
Foot pain isn't just frustrating. It’s disruptive to your work, your movement, and your lifestyle.

We see people commonly dealing with:
- Plantar fasciitis & heel spurs
- Flat feet (pes planus)

Most clients come in with a prescription from their doctor.

For over a year, we’ve worked hard collaborating and transitioning from traditional fabrication to 3D printing the orthotic shells giving patients a:
- Lightweight, low-profile fit
- Repeatable design for multiple pairs
- Great fit with footwear

We still use foam-based orthotics when needed, but for most people, 3D printing has had positive feedback.

Now in Stock: Cambrian Shoes to Support Improved Orthotic Fittings!

Footwear plays a critical role in the success of orthotic fittings, but finding the right shoe can be a challenge.

Lately, we’ve noticed that many shoe models we previously recommended are changing in ways that affect their structure, depth, or overall quality. This creates added complexity when trying to pair them with devices effectively.

To support our patients better (especially those traveling from out of town) we now offer Cambrian shoes for trial and purchase directly in the clinic.

- Try on shoes during your fitting
- Ensure proper fit and function with your orthotics
- Avoid the stress of post-appointment shoe shopping
- Reduce travel time and uncertainty

Our goal is to make your recovery smoother and your orthotic treatment more successful. Starting with the foundation: your footwear.

Day and night, we’re fighting tightness and boosting stability.

Custom bracing isn’t a one-time fix, it’s a process.

This case is a reminder that achieving the right outcome takes time, patience, and ongoing adjustments. Over several months, we made small but important changes to the brace, and the footwear. The fit all guided by one goal:

To help her stand safely, perform activities of daily living (ADLs), and care for her son independently.

It’s not a cure. But this custom brace now gives her stability, skin protection, and the freedom to do what matters most.There are still challenges ahead, as expected but this is progress.
