Amanda’s invitation and philosophy
Hello and welcome to my FB page. Are you looking for a new RMT? I’m a recent graduate and registrant and I am accepting new patients. Direct billing applications are all submitted and I anticipate they will be approved soon!
30 minute = $55 | 45 minute = $75 | 60 minute = $95 | 75 minute = $120 | 90 minute = $145
The price you see above is the price you’ll pay when you book a “relaxation massage” with me at Refined Health Clinic in Esquimalt. Debit, credit or cash payments are all accepted. However, expect these rates to increase slightly in 2019 when I start charging GST.
I have a very neurological approach to massage especially when it comes to “pain.” One of my mentors in college discouraged P-word usage: the words that we use to describe the experience in the body are important. I prefer to guide my clients to a tolerance or discomfort scale, where 10 for them is when we cannot safely use that pressure and depth as their Sympathetic Nervous System is activated - TOO MUCH PAIN! In other words, the body is in “fight or flight” mode. As the body approaches this threshold, there is an unconscious response that I am always looking for in my patients: I see this as holding breath, a change in facial expression, or guarding in the affected area. I prefer to bacvk off slightly at this edge and work with breath or find another way to distract the Nervous System with a sedating technique before approaching a therapeutic pressure needed to facilitate a muscle’s release. WHY? The minute that the body experiences my touch as a potential threat, the nervous system is on high alert and minimal gains can occur. My brainy approach attempts to fly under the radar of this vigilant sentinel in cases of persistent pain.
