REFLEXOLOGY
Reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands, and ears, which correspond to every part, gland, and organ of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes, reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation, and helps promote the natural function of the related areas of the body. Sessions usually last from 45 – 60 minutes. Beginning with the right side, all reflex points on both sides are stimulated as the body is considered to be a whole unit. Reflexology is safe for everyone, although pressure and length of session may vary for babies, the aged or extremely ill. REIKI
Reiki was founded by the Japanese scholar Mikao Usui in the early part of the 20th century. The Japanese word “Reiki” (pronounced ray-key) refers to the life giving energy flowing within and around us that nourishes all living things. Reiki is a form of complementary therapy for balancing, healing and harmonizing the mind, emotions and spirit, as well as the physical body promoting a sense of well-being. It is a safe, gentle, non-intrusive hands on healing technique that uses energy to treat physical ailments without the need for massage or manipulation
During a session, the person remains clothed and the practitioner’s hands can be placed in contact with the person or a few inches away. Reiki flows through the hands of the practitioner to release blockages caused by stress and pain in our body. Reiki allows the body’s natural energy to flow again, to heal itself and prevent further illness. A Reiki session is often experienced as gentle, relaxing and meditative. Reiki restores the balance and harmony within allowing the body to heal itself. I am a Reiki Practitioner registered with the Canadian Reiki Association. I have completed my First and Second Degree Reiki Levels in the Usui System of Natural Healing (Usui Shiki Ryoho). I have also attended a Reiki Practitioner Training Course where I completed the theory and practicum aspects designed for Reiki Practitioners using a Reiki Technique to treat Motor/Neurological issues found in people who have experienced strokes, or have Parkinson’s, MS or Dyslexia. My focus during a Reiki session is to give my clients a safe place to experience the gentle, powerful relaxation and pain relief Reiki has to offer. Both modalities have the following possible benefits:
Strengthens the immune system
Releases stress and tension
Normalizes body functions
Releases or eases pain
Improves digestion
Improves urination
Increases energy
Your body may experience detoxifying reactions for 1 to 4 days after a session. These reactions are the body’s natural ways to better health. Some people may experience:
Chills
Tiredness
Gas release
Watery eyes
Temporary rash
Increased mucus
A bad taste in the mouth
Nausea
Headaches
Perspiration/release of excess fluid
Diarrhea/frequent bowel movement
