We want to give a special shoutout to an incredible member of our team who is currently on maternity leave.

Meet Velvett Bittman, Teacher at Alara Learning and Therapy Services!

Velvett graduated from the University of Regina in 2017 and is currently in her eighth year of teaching. She has primarily taught Kindergarten and Grade One, building a strong foundation in early learning and literacy.

She is deeply passionate about helping young learners develop confidence and essential skills, and is currently furthering her education by completing her Master of Education at the University of Regina.

Velvett brings incredible energy and enthusiasm to everything she does—she is also a former Roughrider Cheerleader! Her positive, upbeat nature makes her a wonderful support for both children and families.

Originally from Regina, Velvett now lives in Estevan with her husband and their dog. She loves staying active and keeping busy.

Meet Aslan Dobbyn, Speech-Language Pathology Assistant at Alara Learning and Therapy Services!

Aslan recently completed her two-year Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program at Medicine Hat College and is excited to bring her skills and enthusiasm to supporting children and families.

She has many years of experience working with children through coaching gymnastics, figure skating, and softball, where she developed a strong ability to connect, motivate, and support young learners.

Aslan is known for her positive energy, strong work ethic, and dedication to helping children grow in confidence and communication.

She lives in Carnduff with her family and brings a genuine passion for working with children to everything she does.

We want to give a special shoutout to an incredible member of our team who is currently on maternity leave.

Meet Paige Greenwood, Teacher at Alara Learning and Therapy Services!

Paige grew up on a farm near Stoughton and now resides on a farm near Lampman with her husband and daughter.

She earned her Bachelor of Education from the University of Regina and worked with the Southeast Cornerstone Public School Division from 2019 to 2023. During that time, she taught Kindergarten for four years and worked in Response to Intervention (RtI) for two years, supporting students in building strong foundational skills.

Paige is especially passionate about early learning and helping children develop the skills and confidence they need to be successful in school.

Outside of work, she enjoys playing hockey, snowmobiling, reading, travelling, and spending time with her family.

Meet Jayla Ritchie, Speech-Language Pathology Assistant at Alara Learning and Therapy Services!

Jayla graduated from Medicine Hat College in 2021 and has been supporting children and families in building communication skills ever since.

She has experience working with children of all ages, with a strong focus on early childhood (ages 3–6). Jayla brings valuable experience supporting children with autism and is passionate about helping each child grow in a way that feels engaging, supportive, and individualized.

Jayla is known for her warm, approachable nature and her ability to connect with children through play and meaningful interaction.

Originally from Alameda, Saskatchewan, Jayla enjoys riding horses, spending time outdoors, shopping, and being with her family and friends.

Meet Jessi Henderson, Speech-Language Pathologist at Alara Learning and Therapy Services!

Jessi was born and raised in Estevan, Saskatchewan, and is passionate about helping individuals of all ages strengthen their communication skills.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and a Bachelor of General Studies in Communication Disorders from the University of Regina, along with a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Minot State University.

Jessi has also completed the Orofacial Rest Posture Program, giving her additional training in assessing and treating orofacial myofunctional disorders.

She is especially passionate about working with children and families in a private practice setting, where she can provide personalized, meaningful care.

Jessi loves being able to support her community while raising her own family in her hometown and finds so much joy in helping her clients grow, gain confidence, and reach their full potential.

Meet Brooke Zulak, Speech-Language Pathologist at Alara Learning and Therapy Services!

Brooke has been supporting children and families since 2020, with experience in both early intervention (birth to 5) and school-based therapy.

She currently works full-time with the Southeast Cornerstone Public School Division, supporting preschool and school-aged children in building strong communication skills.

Brooke has a special passion for speech sound development and early literacy, and is known for her playful, movement-based approach. Her sessions are engaging, dynamic, and designed to help children feel confident and excited to learn.

She is especially passionate about working with neurodiverse children, using play to foster connection, communication, and self-expression. At the heart of her work is building strong, trusting relationships with every child and family.

Brooke and her husband made Estevan home in 2021, where they live with their beloved dog, Scout.

Meet Sara East, Owner & Speech-Language Pathologist at Alara Learning and Therapy Services!

Sara has been a registered Speech-Language Pathologist since 2009, bringing over 16 years of experience supporting children and families across school, health, and private settings.

She has worked with a wide range of speech, language, and feeding needs, and is deeply committed to ongoing learning to provide the highest quality care.

As the founder of Alara, Sara has created a space rooted in compassion, connection, and individualized support. She is passionate about helping her clients build confidence and communication skills in a way that feels empowering for the whole family.

When she’s not working, you can find Sara on the farm south of Alameda with her family, spending time with their animals, riding horses, or cheering on her girls at softball. One of her favourite parts of working with children? The laughter—it truly fills her soul.
