Grief doesn’t look the same for everyone.

Some people experience intuitive grief. This often shows up in strong emotions, tears, talking about the loss, and needing connection and support. Feelings are front and centre.

Others experience instrumental grief. This can look more action-focused. Staying busy. Organizing. Fixing. Researching. Handling logistics. Processing the loss through doing rather than talking.

Neither way is right or wrong. Neither way means someone loved more or less.

At Jessica’s House Hospice, we honour all grieving styles. Whether you process through feelings or through action, your grief is valid and you deserve support that meets you where you are.

Grief is personal. And there is room for every way of carrying it. đź’›

When we allow space to talk about death with honesty and compassion, something powerful happens. We learn what really matters. We hold each other closer. We choose presence over perfection. We begin to live more intentionally.

The individuals and families who walk through our doors teach us about courage, love, forgiveness, and connection. In knowing death, they show us how to live.

If you or someone you love is navigating a life-limiting illness or grief, we are here to walk alongside you. đź’›

Anticipatory grief is the grief we feel before a loss happens. It often begins when we know a goodbye is coming, and our hearts start mourning even while our loved one is still here.

It can look like:
• Sitting at a bedside after a terminal diagnosis and grieving the moments you know are limited.
• Watching a loved one’s health slowly decline and missing who they used to be.
• Facing a major life change, like the progression of an illness, and grieving the future you imagined together.

Anticipatory grief can bring sadness, guilt, anger, numbness, and even moments of relief. All of it is valid. đź’›

If you are walking through anticipatory grief, you do not have to carry it alone. Jessica’s House Hospice offers free grief support for anyone in our community who needs a safe place to talk.

🍀 Happy St. Patrick’s Day from all of us at Jessica’s House Hospice! 🍀

Today we’re celebrating the blessings of community, kindness, and the incredible support that surrounds our Hospice. We feel honoured to walk alongside families with compassion and care, and to have a community that stands behind us every step of the way. 💚

And your blessings be more.
And nothing but happiness come through your door"

Grief is not a straight line. Some days feel steady and manageable. Other days, the waves feel heavy and unexpected.

There is no timeline. No finish line. Just moments of calm, moments of overwhelm, and the quiet strength it takes to keep moving through both.

At Jessica’s House Hospice, we are here to support you. Through one-on-one support, group programs, and compassionate care, you do not have to face the waves alone. 💛

Disenfranchised grief is the kind of grief that often goes unseen.

It’s the loss that others may not recognize. The relationship that “doesn’t count.” The sorrow that feels minimized, dismissed, or misunderstood.

This can include grieving an ex-partner, a coworker, a pet, a miscarriage, a strained relationship, or someone you loved deeply but privately.

At Jessica’s House Hospice, we want you to know this: your grief is valid. Your loss matters. And you deserve support, no matter the circumstances.

If you’re carrying a loss that feels invisible to others, you don’t have to carry it alone. 💛
