Horses help us by being active participants in learning situations. Because they are instinctive and natural, they mirror or reflect the emotions and energy of the people around them. Horses offer a genuine interpretation of reality, not as we wish it to be, but rather, as it is.

This workshop brings you together with horses in a fun, safe and unique experience. All of the exercises are done on the ground. No Horse experience necessary.

Our horses aren’t our therapists.
They’re not here to hold all of our trauma, fix our pain, or carry emotions we haven’t processed.
They don’t exist to absorb everything we don’t know what to do with.

And that matters.

But…

They do notice us.
They do respond to our nervous systems.
They do invite us back into our bodies when our heads are too loud.

They don’t analyse.
They don’t judge.
They don’t label.

They offer feedback through presence, boundaries, curiosity, and choice.

When we’re regulated, they soften.
When we’re rushed, they hesitate.
When we slow down, they often meet us there.

The work isn’t about unloading onto them.
It’s about listening to what they reflect and taking responsibility for ourselves.

Horses don’t heal us instead of doing the work.
They walk alongside us while we learn to do it.

And that’s a relationship built on respect, not projection.
Connection, not burden.
Mutual safety, not emotional dumping.

We can do this for them to....its all mutual..💜 we maybe can't fix all their problems but they darn won't have to face it alone.....💓

Doorway of Grief
The"Betwixt between", we would love to go back and be with our loved ones as we are unsure of how we go forward in a life without them.
Learning to live in that doorway, a state of limbo, we can build our lives, rebuild our shattered worldviews and be ready to live again.

The Two Who Remember the Wind

They bow their heads toward one another,
black and white,
night and frost,
as if the earth itself has asked them to listen.

Their manes fall like old stories,
woven with rain, ash, and breath.
Every curl holds a memory—
hoofbeats crossing rivers,
fires dying down to embers,
hands once warm on their necks.

The dark horse carries the weight of endurance,
the knowing of long winters,
the strength to stand when the trail disappears.
The light horse carries forgiveness,
the quiet courage to begin again
after loss has spoken.

They touch not with force,
but with trust.
Between their foreheads lives a prayer
no language can claim—
only the land understands it.

They are not opposites.
They are balance.
Past and future
meeting in the present breath.

And when they lift their heads,
the wind remembers their names,
and the people remember
how to walk gently

Or indeed a particular animal, as certain animals who come into our lives can unlock previously unknown parts of our personality too, helping us find new capacities, stamina, love, patience, unhealed wounded-parts, and strengths we had no idea we possessed.

Psyche is always seeking wholeness so life has a way of bringing the right people or animals into our life to this end.

It's all grist for the mill! Even though at times it is immensely challenging, frustrating and often utterly heart-breaking.

Willow Springs Horse Connections is officially closed.
To all the clients that my horses and I had the privilege of working with over the past 8 years, I thank-you.
Horses certainly leave hoof prints in our hearts.

Horses were a major influence in my healing and reconnection with life as it is after my loss.
