Are you over 65 living in Ontario? Well, this is a friendly reminder that the deductible for Ontario Drug Benefit has re-started. This means that you will be paying a portion of your prescription costs until the $100 deductible have been reached. In some cases, prescriptions are expensive, and you may have to pay for your deductible all at once. In other cases, the prescription cost may be low and you will then just have to pay a portion (ie the cost of that prescription) rather than the whole amount of your deductible. Clear as mud? Look at it this way, let's say your prescription would normally cost $200 for a three month supply. The Ontario Drug Benefit plan would pay for $100 of the cost, and you would have to pay $100. If, for example, your prescription only cost $20, then you would only pay $20 towards your deductible.The remaining $80 will be charged as you fill further prescriptions. Still confused?
