What is it?

Due to birthing trauma, habitual patterns carried out by the care giver or positions in-utero baby may develop a preference of which side they like to turn their head to. This causes tightening and shortening of the sternocleidomastoid muscle.

This is very common and usually painless in babies!

Why fix it?

Torticollis can cause babies head to be rotated and tilted at rest. This gross lack of neck range of motion can be associated with developing flat spots, asymmetries in facial muscle activation, breast feeding difficulties, colic and gastrointestinal reflux.

It’s easily treatable with some soft tissue work, spinal work, next stretches and educational tips! See your chiropractor today for more information.
