❗Heavy rainfall is pushing wastewater flows beyond what the system can safely handle. To prevent a critical infrastructure failure, the City has opened an emergency bypass at the Main Sewage Lift Station, resulting in a temporary release of untreated effluent into the Elk River.

👷‍♂️Crews are also responding to localized flooding across town. A self‑fill sandbagging station is open on Railway Ave. (next to our Operations Facility) and City teams are supporting protection efforts at Isabella Dicken Elementary School and along 4th Street.

⚠️🚿Residents can help by eliminating non‑essential water use and ensuring sump pumps, downspouts, and perimeter drains are not connected to the sanitary sewer system.

* Take off shoes to reduce dirt, bacteria, and allergens being tracked inside.
* Add an extra doormat, one outside and one inside, to trap debris before it spreads.
* If you have the space, place a bench near the door to make shoe removal easier and more convenient.
* Use a boot tray for wet or muddy shoes to contain moisture and protect your floors.
* Wipe your pets’ paws after long, muddy walks to prevent dirt and outdoor pollutants from spreading through your home.
