Following up from our last post:

First, there have been concerns circulating, but contrary to speculations, I will not be closing my practice.

Instead, we’re coming full circle and transitioning back to a home-based practitioner run practice, which means I will have to adjust my schedule in order to accommodate these changes. Therefore please try to plan ahead as availability is already limited.

I also encourage you to utilize the waitlist feature as it will help accommodate any last-minute cancellations + ensure timely appointments.

Moms, please continue to bring in your little ones; we will adapt!

While I strive to address every call/msg promptly, managing both patient care and admin duties single-handedly is tricky so please bear with me if it takes me a minute to get back to you.

Lastly, I will only be taking on new patients on a case-by-case basis, prioritizing existing patients until their needs are met conveniently. Prospective patients, I have a waitlist going so if you’d like to see me in the future, send me an email.

I truly appreciate your understanding and support during this transition period and thank you for being a valued part of my practice!

As you may be aware, we have been diligently working with the City of Fernie to secure the necessary approvals for our business license since October 2022. Throughout January 2024, we were finally able to engage in comprehensive discussions to address our application in its entirety and as such were presented with the available options regarding our business operations.

Unfortunately, the extended duration it took for the City of Fernie to effectively communicate these options has put us in an incredibly challenging position. After careful consideration, we regret to inform you that given the significant renovations required to operate a commercial business on our premises, it is currently not a feasible undertaking.

Therefore, as of February 1st, Jodi will be working full time in Jaffray at South Country Fitness Co. and Dr. Stephanie will transition back to a solo practice without staff. Nothing else changes - online booking for both practices will remain the same.

We all share your disappointment and frustration, as it is important for us to deliver consistent and quality service to our clients/patients. We are deeply saddened by the impact this will have on our ability to provide the level of service we strive to provide and the level of care you deserve.

We want to assure you that we are actively exploring alternative solutions to mitigate any potential disruptions as Jodi and I value our working relationship and the ability to co-manage your care. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate through this challenging time.

Sincerely,

Dr. Stephanie, Jodi + Diane

In case you’re not on our email list and missed the first quarterly newsletter we’ve put out in a year and a half 🫣 here’s the important bits:

Upcoming Summer Holidays‼️
- June 16-25, 2023
- August 3-7, 2023
- Sept 1-10, 2023

Jodi and I are still co-managing massage and chiro care! You can find her here .rmt for availability and online booking. Yes, she’s a BC registered RMT and she direct bills 🎉

Our entrance has moved - literally 2 meters to the left of our previous entrance on 13th 👉🏼🚪

And, we have limited availability over the summer so plan those schedules accordingly! 🗓️

Oh, and our email address has changed to hello@kootenaychiro.com but if you still email the old address(es) we still get them.👌🏼👍🏼

“If nothing ever changed, there’d be no butterflies.”🦋

Apparently all great changes are preceded by chaos, so let’s bring on the changes! 🥳

With that being said, it’s official - this will be our last week in the OG clinic.😳

As long as everything goes as planned, we will be moving into the new clinic this weekend and we’ll be back at it Monday without skipping a beat. The only thing that is going to change is the entrance and the name - everything else remains the same! 👍🏼

We still have some technical feats to overcome with the website and our signage, but we’re working on it and hope we can make the changes without too much confusion. 🙃

We are so grateful for the understanding and supportive everyone has given over the past couple of months. My graduation goggles are already starting to fog up just thinking about the past 6 years 🥺 but, I’m also incredibly excited to settle into our new space!

We’ll keep you loop if anything changes.👌🏼

Did you know that drinking plain water may not be enough to replenish the minerals and electrolytes lost through sweating, urinating, and other bodily processes?💧

This is why I add salt to my water, specifically unrefined salt, which is different than the classic refined table salt we are all familiar with.👇🏼

🧂Refined salt:
- Is heavily processed
- It lacks minerals and causes acidosis (lowered pH)
- Has high sodium content which can increase blood pressure

⚡️Unrefined salt:
- Is mined naturally from the source
- Contains potassium, along with 60+ other trace minerals which keeps your blood pressure in check by maintaining proper fluid balance
- Is essential for nerve and muscle function and therefore for optimal overall body function

Adding a pinch of unrefined salt to your water will help hydrate your body more effectively and improve overall performance, while avoiding the refined sugars and questionable food dyes found in sports drinks or coconut water. I personally use because it checks all of the boxes - it’s real, clean, and naturally produced.🍃

Try adding in a squeeze of fresh lemon 🍋or lime for flavour or a couple drops of essential oil or honey🍯 if you’re feeling fancy.💁🏻‍♀️

Since we have had many new faces around here over the past year or so, here’s a little bit about me👇🏼

My name is Stephanie Bryant. I was born and raised in Fernie and am a 5th generation Fernie local.🦄 I am a chiropractor that specializes in sports medicine/athletic performance as well as prenatal and postpartum care. I am a certified personal trainer, yoga and spin instructor, former figure skating coach and competitive/professional figure skater. I’m a health and wellness enthusiast and I love to learn - I’m currently learning everything I can about functional medicine
🤓 while also hammering down some new woodworking skills for the new clinic space.🔨🫠

I am here to help humans of all ages achieve their health and wellness goals with chiropractic care, therapeutic exercise, movement, mindfulness, nutritional/lifestyle strategies and lots of laughter (because it truly is the best medicine😂). I practice a root-cause holistic model of care, meaning, I treat the entire person - mind, body, and spine - by identifying the root cause of your health challenges and taking a multidisciplinary approach to healing. Rather than putting a bandaid on a body part and hoping it sorts itself out, I strive to resolve the problem.👌🏼

I am a huge advocate for preventative healthcare and am a firm believer that education is your best tool. I myself have had some serious health challenges and only by understanding my body and advocating for myself was I able to achieve the results I was looking for. In saying that, I want to help you understand your own body so you can take control of your health and, in doing so, live the best quality of life possible! 🤗

If we haven’t met yet, it’s so nice to meet you 👋🏼 and if we have met and you’re still here - Hi! Happy Sunday! 🫶🏼

Now that we’ve established that we’re only moving within the same location….for everyone who didn’t get to the end of the last post, 😂 I think we are due for a re-introduction.👋🏼

Kootenay Chiropractic and Sports Performance is locally owned and operated and was established in 2017. I actually saw my first couple of patients in our living room 6 years ago March. Being born and raised in Fernie definitely had its perks when starting a business and I’m so grateful for the support we had early on, though the living room was not the ideal set up.🤣

With the help of our friends and family (and a ton of elbow grease), we were, and have been, able to continue to build it into the practice it is today.🫶🏼

Through chiropractic care, movement, nutrition, and mindfulness, our goal is to help humans of all stages perform at their best and achieve their health and wellness goals. Whether that is living the best quality of life you can, or performing your best on whichever stage it is you show up on, we’re here to help support you along the way!📣

Last year was nothing short of an uphill battle. It almost broke me, if I’m being honest. I never thought I’d achieve what I spent most of my life working towards only for it to not be at all what I wanted. To say it was a hard pill to swallow would be an understatement.😖

But, it was also a huge relief!😅

After an unexpected solo day in the clinic last October, I had the BEST day I’d had all year. I truly felt like I showed up as the best version of myself for my patients and we had so many laughs. It made me remember why I started this in the first place.

That’s when I realized that I had completely lost myself. I didn’t know what I was doing anymore and I finally hit my breaking point. So I decided I wasn’t going to do it anymore.

From 2019 until 2022, we had been building Fernie Wellness Collective. And in May, we’re moving….on.✌🏼

We’re moving onto better things! Or should I say we’re going back to our roots? You didn’t think I was going to give up did you?!

Nah, we’re throwing it back, or going OG as the kids say these days, and I’m getting back on the path I should be on. 🙌🏼

So we’re moving, next door, to our new clinic space, sometime in May.

We’re also going back to Kootenay Chiropractic + Sports Performance, because that’s who we’ve always been.🤷🏻‍♀️

Its going to be a bit of imperfect action as we make this transition physically and virtually so please bear with me.🫶🏼

So long 2022 & hello 2023.

Wishing everyone a healthy and restorative new year because dang the last few years have been intense!

We’re in holiday mode until January 8th, which means I’m continuing to take a much needed break from social media until then.

See you in a few✌🏼

After a few less snowy years, I hope everyone takes full advantage but also stays upright this weekend! 🤣

If not, I’ve got your back this week👀👌🏼

Have you ever heard that once you start seeing a chiropractor you have to keep going back for the rest of your life?🤔

This is one of the most common concerns I hear and in my opinion, a misconception in most cases. I do recommend maintenance or preventative care options for most of my patients once we’ve resolved their aches and pains, but honestly, once people realize how good they can feel, they want to keep feeling that good and often choose maintenance care.😲

A typical maintenance schedule is 1-3x a month, sometimes 1x every 4-6 weeks depending on what your lifestyle involves. I have found that people tend to experience less flare ups, and if they do, they resolve much faster, when they get adjusted more regularly. I grew up figure skating aka falling on my butt 30+ times a day and once I started weekly chiropractic care, I stopped taking Tylenol and ibuprofen with my vitamins in the morning😳. I have many patients who spend their days doing more lower impact activities, like exploring the mountains, and not working a physically demanding job so I tend to see them every 4-6 weeks. They also don’t take Advil for breakfast ☺️.

At the end of the day, it’s always your choice what you do for your health, and I’m just here to meet you where you’re at and support you along the way. It’s your body and you are the only one that has to live with it, but every body is different and what works for one person might not work for another so we do what’s best for you.👍🏼

Have more questions? Feel free to drop them in the comments or send a DM.🥰
