Birch Pine Park

Birch Pine Park Beautiful location off the shores off Lake Huron. Named after our magnificent, tall, White Birch and Weather Permitting. Shawkence. Johns Ambulance Service.

We are a Seasonal RV Park that is only open through the months of May, through the summer and we officially close on Thanksgiving weekend. We have NO tenting available anymore, we only allow tenting if you are going to be staying on a lot of a Seasonal Camper in Birch Pine. Birch Pine Park was established in 1974 by the Late Chief Charlie K. A gifted musician who could play any instrument by ear,

during Charlie's lifetime achievements; he was a police constable, a coach for sports and actively involved with youth. He was an ambulance attendant with the St. He also played with various musicians down through the years, playing in nursing homes, legions, and any event where fiddle music could be heard. During his years of service as a leader, he was presented with an Eagle Feather by the Union of Ontario Indians. In 1974 Premier Bill Davis made a declaration naming a township in the Northern Region of Ontario after the Shawkence name, this was valuable recognition for his contribution to the development of this region at the time. Charlie served as a leader of Kettle & Stony Point First Nation for 14 years. He was also a founding member of the London District Chiefs Council. Charlie was a fighter and he fought for many Anishinabe (first nations people). He wanted a better way of life for those that know about the reserve life. He had a vision of a new community centre, school, water treatment plant, health centre and grocery store. He lived to see it come about. The greatest recognition of achievement that was bestowed on Charlie was when he was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Union of Ontario Indians in the year 2000. He has bequeathed this burial ground as his resting place where he entered into, in the New Millennium. In dedication this area is a place of peace and mediation. The Memorial Mediation Garden and Bird Sanctuary are in his honour. Charlie's family lineage can be traced through to the Great War Chief Tecumseh. Charlie is the son of Baxter Shawkence. His grandfather was Wesley Shawkence and his great grandfather was Shahkeens Big Knife also known as "Chi-Mauk-Man. Chi-Mauk-Man's father was the companion to Chippewa warrior O Shawanoo Big Knife, nephew to Tecumseh, who fought the Americans in the War of 1812. Charlie was a loving family man, father, grandfather and great grandfather. War medals were given to Tecumseh for fighting in this great battle and Charlie was in possession of these medals, which were passed down from elders. Charlie created Birch Pine Park as part of a legacy to leave behind. We do our very best to carry on his vision and his wishes for what he wanted here. We are known for our beautiful location. We have award-winning gardens on our property that no words can do justice. It is something you truly have to see for yourself! We have a wildlife sanctuary here, as many of our animals call this place home as well. We take pride in knowing that this is the place set aside as an Sanctuary for Peace and Rest. As of 2021~we are heading into a new decade of securing this Peace. As well we are thankful and so very blessed to have a refuge for the Animals of Nature that frequently can be seen in the Wildlife Sanctuary Gardens.

Look up. The sky is putting on a show you won't see again until 2028.

A rare Blue Moon is rising on May 30, peaking in the early hours of May 31 at 8:45 UTC.

It's the second full moon of May, and the first time two full moons have shared a single calendar month since August 2023.

But the moon isn't doing this alone.

Venus and Jupiter are lining up low in the western sky just after sunset. Mars and Saturn are climbing in the east before dawn. Mercury joins the western evening lineup too.

Four planets. One Blue Moon. One sky.

Here's the kicker — this isn't just any full moon. It's the smallest full moon of the entire year, sitting roughly 252,360 miles away at its farthest point from Earth.

A micromoon. A Blue Moon. A planet parade. All at once.

The moon will glow right next to Antares, the red heart of Scorpius, on May 30. For the best view of the planetary lineup, step outside 30 to 45 minutes after sunset and look west. Set an alarm before dawn if you want to catch Mars and Saturn rising in the east.

And no, despite the name, the moon won't actually look blue. The name comes from the calendar quirk, not the color.

The next one like this won't happen until December 2028.

Don't blink.

🌌 A Celestial Spectacle You Don’t Want to Miss! 🌌

The phrase “once in a blue moon” literally comes to life tonight, May 30th! 🌕✨ We are being treated to an incredibly rare double-feature in the night sky: an official Blue Moon paired with a stunning 5-planet alignment.

Here is everything you need to know about tonight’s event:

🔹 The Blue Moon: Because the moon’s 29.5-day cycle doesn't perfectly match our calendar, we occasionally get two full moons in a single month. After the "Flower Moon" on May 1st, tonight’s full moon is our second—making it a true Blue Moon!
(Fun fact: Despite the name, it won’t actually look blue! If you catch it rising near the horizon just after sunset, it will likely have a beautiful golden-orange glow thanks to an atmospheric effect called Rayleigh scattering).

🔹 The Planetary Parade: As if the moon wasn't enough, skywatchers will also be able to spot Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, and Mars stretching across the evening and early morning sky. While they won't all appear at the exact same second, this rare lineup will be visible within hours of each other from dusk until dawn.

🔭 How to watch:
Step outside shortly after sunset tonight and look toward a clear southeastern horizon to catch that large golden-orange moon rising into the dusk sky.

Events like this are genuinely rare—in fact, our next monthly Blue Moon won’t happen again until December 31, 2028! So grab a warm drink, step outside, and look up.

Will you be stargazing tonight? Let us know where you are watching from in the comments! 👇

Signs & Wonders be a happening, they are calling it RARE!

Signs & Wonders be a happening, they are calling it RARE!

🌕✨ It’s happening tonight!

On May 30–31, 2026, skywatchers will witness a rare combination of celestial events as the year’s Blue Moon arrives alongside a remarkable planetary lineup.

Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Mars, and Saturn will all be visible within hours of each other, creating one of the most impressive skywatching opportunities of 2026.

A Blue Moon occurs when two full moons fall within the same calendar month—a phenomenon that only happens about once every 2.5 years. Despite its name, the Moon won’t actually appear blue, but its rarity has made the phrase “once in a blue moon” famous around the world.

🌌 What to look for:
• Blue Moon rising after sunset
• Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Mars, and Saturn across the sky
• Stunning views with the naked eye
• Even better through binoculars or a small telescope

Mark your calendars, look up, and enjoy one of the most unusual nights in the sky this year!
