Welcome New Member: Menard Contracting Inc.

Husband and wife Yvon and Luanne Menard founded Menard Contracting Inc in 2006, with a very simple vision in mind work hard, be humble and take on each project with passion and dedication.

After high school Yvon worked for a local construction company and discovered his love of carpentry.

He began his 4-year apprenticeship program and graduated from Keyano College in Fort Mcmurray Alberta with Honors as a Red Seal Carpenter.

After years of being mentored by the some the best, we decided it was time to venture out on our own.

Menard Contracting Inc started out as a framing company, we have worked on over 500 framing projects, working for some of the largest builders in North America, having to adhere to strict protocols and quality standards. Working closely with architects and engineers to perfect each plan to make sure each home was built to comply with all building codes and standards while also being functional for the everyday family.

We then evolved to New Home Construction from start to finish, working on personal projects and as a project manager for established home builders. Menard Contracting Inc has been a part of over 100 new home builds from start to finish.

Over the years Yvon has challenged himself in every aspect of the building industry having done numerous renovations, commercial projects as well as maintenance for commercial buildings.

We continue to learn and grow. Menard Contracting is also a certified firm with the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification.

On behalf of the Fort McMurray Construction Association, we wish you all a Safe and Relaxing Happy May Long Weekend.

Here are some safety tips to ensure that you stay safe this long weekend:

1. Stay informed about the weather. Check local weather forecasts, plan your route and be aware of any changes in road conditions to avoid unexpected delays or detours.
2. Plan for a safe way home if you are consuming alcohol – use a designated driver, a taxi, or public transportation. Never drink and drive.
3. If you are going away this weekend, inspect your home before you leave. Double-check that all doors and windows are locked and appliances are unplugged. If you have a security system, set the alarm before you go.
4. Avoid driver distractions. Pull over in a safe area to use your phone, to eat, or to care for children or pets.
5. Before towing a trailer or hauling a load, make sure your vehicle is properly equipped for the job. Ensure your trailer is securely attached and rear-view mirrors give a clear view of the road.
6. If you are going to be near water, lifejackets are a must. Lifejackets save lives and should be worn even while you are on a boat that is close to shore.
7. Supervise the barbecue. Keep children and pets away from a hot grill and never leave a hot grill unsupervised.
8. Adults, not kids, should start campfires. Check for local fire bans, and ensure your fire is fully extinguished when unattended. Use appropriate materials to start a campfire, and never use gasoline or another flammable liquid.
9. Don’t announce your vacation plans in casual conversations or emails, or on social media sites. Don’t alert potential thieves to your absence. Only post travel pictures when you return.
10. Make sure your home, auto and business insurance policies are up to date. Know the phone number of your insurance representative in case you need to make a claim.
