As the holiday season gets closer, how are you really feeling? Often it’s not just one emotion, but many at once. joy, beauty, noise, tenderness, and sometimes overwhelm.
Family time can bring together so much all at once: gatherings, children, parents, expectations, long meals, packed schedules. It can feel like everything is happening simultaneously. And this is often where yoga becomes most meaningful, not necessarily on the mat, but in how we stay connected to ourselves while being with others.
Personally, family life has taught me more than I ever expected. Learning to remain steady, present, and compassionate with myself amid chaos, emotions, and constant change has become a practice of its own.
So here’s a gentle reminder for this time of year, your practice doesn’t need to be perfect.
Five minutes is enough. A few intentional breaths when you wake up. A pause to ground yourself before sitting down to eat. One or two rounds of movement just to feel your body again.
Yoga isn’t meant to be another obligation. It’s a support, something that helps you stay centered in conversations, soften your responses, sense your body, and create a little inner space when things feel intense. Sometimes it even helps us listen more fully, eat with more awareness, or pause before reacting.
Wishing you a calm and nourishing holiday season.
