A mission and vision statement helps to clarify what the business is all about, what it stands for, and where it is headed. This provides a clear sense of direction, which helps to guide decision-making and prioritization of resources.
This is KORE's mission and vision statement.
My 3 main words I emphasize are 'quality,' 'individualized,' and 'robustness.' I choose these words because I want to make sure the services I am offering are of value, specific to each person and makes the client overall stronger.
I have a poster of my mission and vision statement on my wall in my clinic. I look at it everyday because it is a reminder about what I want to accomplish with each client and to strive to be better in what I do.

I’m Karissa, a Certified Athletic Therapist and owner and operator of Kore Athletic Therapy.
I am a home based business and my services include injury rehab, fitness training and custom knee bracing.
Injury Rehabilitation - I take an active and whole body approach to rehab. As a Neuro-reconditionist, I assess the whole body, including the brain, because the neurological system is the governing system of the body. Whether it’s a new injury that just happened or an injury you’ve had for years, I can assess it, tell you what is going on and give you a plan about how we are going to rehabilitate it.
Fitness Training - Each session is 1-on-1, private, 1 hr sessions. I require a 3 month commitment, and flexible payment options available.
Bracing - The custom knee bracing I do is the first ever 3D printed brace on the market. It’s 100% customized to your body and replicates the natural movement of the knee. It’s low profile, meaning it can fit underneath your pants, and the lightest knee brace out there. It can be made for any knee conditions like osteoarthritis, ligament instabilities, meniscus tears, etc.
You can book a free consultation with me to discuss any of these services further, and to make sure that I am the right fit for your rehabilitation needs.

First let's start with the formal education process:
Athletic Therapy is a 4 year undergraduate degree that focuses entirely in the area of assessment and rehabilitation of orthopedic injuries and conditions that affect the musculoskeletal system (MSK), which includes your muscles, bones, joints and ligament.
Physiotherapist is a 2 year Masters degree after the undergraduate degree where the education is more broad in musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and cardiovascular issues.

Clinical setting
Both AT’s and PT’s do assessment and treatment using very similar equipment.
Athletic Therapists use more movement and exercise based treatment
Physiotherapists use more manual manipulation techniques
Both professions can use either techniques

Other settings
AT’s are also trained and specialized in emergency care, holding a valid sport first responder certificate to work with teams at field events. Have you ever seen someone run onto a field, the ice, the pitch, etc. in a professional or amature sporting event? That is most likely an Athletic Therapist who follows the sports medicine model of care.
Physiotherapists can work in hospital settings or private clinics. It all depends what area of focus they chose such as specializing in pediatrics, burn rehab, geriatrics, and stroke recovery, which extra formal education is required.

Main Goal
AT’s main goals are to maintain and improve physical fitness levels
PT’s main goals are to return and maintain everyday function

Continuing Education (CE)
After graduation from a formal University both AT’s and PT’s need to keep up their skills and education by doing continuing education courses. It is a vast field that is ever changing and professionals need to know the updated research. It is through the CE that a person can specialize and gain more knowledge in certain areas like women’s pelvic health, reconditioning, cupping, acupuncture, applied neurology, and concussions.

At the end of the day, whoever and whatever professional is helping you get back to activity and achieve your goals is the right practitioner for you.
