Alexis Germain, RNBN, FMN is a nurse with over 17 years of experience in acute and intensive care units which include, trauma ER, SICU, PACU, flight nursing, and medical response/occupational health nurse in the oil field. Her career in these high-pressure environments shaped her ability to stay calm under crisis while perfecting her assessment skills and cultivating a root-cause approach to health, by digging deep and asking "why" to find the answers. After serving as both a corporate educator and nursing instructor, Alexis founded Wholistic Healing Nurse Coaching & Consulting to address the systemic gaps she witnessed firsthand. But here’s the hard truth:
Your body wasn’t built to store emotions. It was built to move them.

Burnout doesn't announce itself. It creeps in quiet. You call it "just a bad week." Then it becomes your new normal.

Here are 5 ways to recognize burnout before it breaks you 👇🏼

✨1. You're running on fumes.
Coffee isn't cutting it anymore. You wake up exhausted, even after 8 hours.

✨2. Your patience is paper-thin.
You snap over small things, then feel guilty for caring too much and too little all at once.

You don't feel joy, excitement, or anger, just... nothing. It's not peace. It's depletion.

We didn't burn out because we stopped caring.

We burned out because we cared so deeply, for so long, in a system that kept asking for more.

âś…More emotional labor.

They label it "burnout" to make it sound like a personal problem - like you just need a vacation, a mindset shift, or another "wellness initiative."

But this isn't a spa-day fix. It's a nervous system collapse.

I've lived it.

ER, ICU, oil field, educator - seventeen years of showing up for everyone but myself.

Until my body shut down and my spirit said no more.
