Thank you Angels for this beautiful, beautiful journey!!! Hi, my name is Maureen Bandas, thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to check out my page. I am so grateful to have been awaken, I am loving life!!! I am a Cree Metis and owner of Angel Spiritual Connections Inc. located near Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan, in Treaty 4 territory. The corporation is a wellness business offering healing services, empowerment certified classes, wellness expos, and healing women’s retreats since 2006. Like many of us, I grew up with not embracing my gifts and it took a huge awakening to finally surrender my life to Creator, Divine Source, Great Spirit, God, Universe or whatever you may call the higher power. I know when you come to a place of complete surrender, life starts to change for you. I have been experiencing so many shifts, it is unreal. I sometimes have to pinch myself to make sure I am still in the physical plane. My journey with the Angels and my Spiritual team has been such a joy that I cannot go back to who I use to be. It took me many years to finally come out of the spiritual closet. I am an accountant by trade and do have my undergraduate degree in business. My awakening all began one morning in March 2006 when I was involved in a roll over on a country road. I was going to Regina, Saskatchewan to visit my mother. It was a beautiful day in the valley. I set my cruise control on and drove up and down the valley hills. Once I got up top to this particular hill, the road was like a sheet of ice. I seen the glare, I started to slip slide on the road. I immediately took the cruise control off however somehow in the panic mode, I turned it back on. I started to skid all over the road, I almost had it under control, however I knew it was time to let the wheel go. I ended up going into the ditch and became airborne, flipping in the air. I let go of the steering wheel and had an overwhelming feeling of emotions where I became very angry at God, I did not want to die in a ditch, I truly believed that I was a goner. I still remember, the moment I totally surrended to God, I started to feel this amazing feeling come over me. I could feel a warm beam of light enter into my body, my whole entire being was being filled up with this amazing energy from God. I instantly felt at peace and wanted to go with the light, it felt so right to do so however, something stopped me in my tracks and I intuitively knew it was not my time to go HOME!!! I truly believe that my Guardian Angel saved me that day!! As I safely landed on all four wheels of my tires, I was in total shock as I looked around in disbelief that I was still alive. I got out of the mangled up vehicle and started walking down the country road. I was in shock!!! All I wanted to do was go home to my lake house. I was in shock for most of the day, still in disbelief that I was still alive. It suddenly occurred to me that this same feeling of a beautiful light entering my being happened in my 20’s. We were driving down a highway between Regina and Saskatoon when the rear end of the vehicle came out. I was driving. All I could see was sparks behind me in the rear view mirror. My husband looked over at me and said, “Stay calm dear”. The moment he said that, I felt an energy enter into my hands, I remember telling people that Jesus took over the steering wheel. I know now that in both instances my life was saved by Creator, as my Guardian Angel entered my physical body and saved me. I am so grateful for having another chance at life. I truly have surrendered my life to Creator. I know I am here to teach others on how to accept and understand their God given gifts. We are all here for a purpose, your purpose is to be YOU!!! I am so looking forward to helping others in remembering who they are, this journey is so amazing. I can honestly say, my near death experiences have actually saved my life. My life is full of abundance, love and joy, so blessed and grateful!!!! Most of us know that once we have been awaken, we are unable to go back to sleep. Prior to my awakening, I was invited several times to learn how to read Angel cards and attend spiritual events. I always declined gracefully. I was the biggest skeptic. I could always feel and sense energy however didn’t know what it all meant. My grandmothers were both intuitive and gifted ladies. I do recall getting reading where the lady said that I would finally open up my gifts. I had no idea what she was talking about. I was a huge skeptic and truly didn’t believe I had the ability to connect to Spirit. After the near death experience, I was invited again to join a group of ladies in Fort Qu’Appelle to learn how to connect to Spirit. It truly was a magical weekend, for the very first time in my life, I totally connected with others on a soul level, it was an incredible and uplifting experience. I started to watch spiritual videos, read books, attended training sessions and started to get the confidence to do Angel card readings. After a Spiritual retreat in Sedona, Arizona where I met many mentors and attended a variety of workshops on spiritual development, I surrendered my entire life to Creator and his beautiful Angels. To now start each day in a good way by saying, “thank you, thank you, thank you!!! How may I serve?” It truly helps in setting my intention to bring happiness, love and peace into my life. I have taken training to become a Certified hypnotherapist, Certified Advanced Thetahealer, Access Bars/Facelift/Body Processes Facilitator, Reiki Master. I have also written a children’s book “Izabella’s Angels” to help parents with gifted children to open up a discussion on how Guardian Angels are here on earth to love, protect and support us. The book’s illustrations were done by my niece, Alanda Durocher-John, a First Nation artist who is hearing impaired and soon to be a Social worker. I am so looking forward to meeting you!

Debunking common misconceptions about blindness and low vision.

In today’s society, misconceptions about blindness and low vision are unfortunately widespread. These myths can create barriers and perpetuate misunderstandings, making it harder for those of us individuals in the blind community to navigate the world on our terms. Whether it's assumptions about what we can or cannot do, or the ways we are treated by others, these misconceptions can be frustrating and even damaging. Diverse Abilities asked members of the blind community to share their thoughts on the biggest misconceptions they face. Let’s dive into some of the most common ones and break them down.

“All people who are blind are completely blind”

One of the most common misconceptions is that all people that are blind have no vision at all. In reality, blindness exists on a spectrum. Only around 15% of us folks who are blind are completely blind with no light perception. Many others have partial vision, and some may use their remaining sight to assist with tasks. Just because someone identifies as blind doesn't mean we can't see anything, we may still have useful vision or rely on other senses like touch and hearing to navigate the world.

“People who are blind can’t do anything or are completely dependent “

Another harmful stereotype is that those of us who are blind are incapable of doing daily tasks like cooking, dressing ourselves or navigating independently. In truth, we can do nearly everything sighted individuals can; only we do it differently. From using adaptive technology or alternative techniques to relying on other senses, those of us who can’t see develop strategies to accomplish everyday activities. It's not about inability, it's about finding different solutions to challenges.

“You don’t look like you have a disability.”

Non apparent disabilities, including blindness, can often lead to the assumption that if a person “looks fine,” they must not have a disability. This assumption can be frustrating for those of us who navigate the world with blindness, as it denies the very real challenges we face every day. Just because we don’t have an outwardly apparent condition doesn’t mean we don’t experience significant barriers. Usually our biggest barriers are societies attitudes towards us and the built environment we live in.

"If you have a disability you are automatically unintelligent or incapable”

It’s heartbreaking, but some people assume that if you have a disability, you are less than or incapable of understanding complex topics. This misconception is not only insulting, but it’s also completely untrue. We like everyone else, have a range of intelligence, talents, and abilities. We should be judged by our skills, not our disability.

A few final thoughts.
Misconceptions about blindness and low vision are not just frustrating, they can be harmful, isolating, and limiting. By challenging these stereotypes and promoting understanding, we can create a more inclusive world. If you ever encounter someone who is blind or has low vision, the best approach is simple: treat us like any other person. Please always speak to us directly and do not default to those we are with.

Let’s break through the barriers and make our world more accessible and inclusive for everyone, regardless of our abilities. Being mindful we will all be 80 years old one day and all of us will have changing abilities. See us as unique individuals who navigate life different.

Angel Spiritual Connections

As a holistic practitioner, I have been trained as an Access Consciousness Bars Facilitator and Practitioner, Certified Advanced Thetahealer and Intuitive healer. My goal for each client I see is to assist in the natural process of allowing the body to heal itself by accessing the healing energy of the Universe. I am a natural born intuitive and have assisted thousands of clients with emotional, mental and physical ailments. I use the tools and techniques of the variety of energy healing modalities I have learned over the years and use my intuitive ability to locate the ailments in the body. I have worked with clients suffering from emotional trauma such as severe depression, anxiety, stress, release negative emotions, heal fears, boost self-esteem and self-worth, let go of limiting beliefs. I have also assisted clients with physical healings such as ability to regain mobility, sleep disorder, pains in back, neck and shoulders, headaches to name just a few ailments. If you come to a session with an open mind, you will be pleasantly pleased with the result from an energy healing. The worst thing that can happen is that you have the best relaxation ever and the best thing that can happen is that the session will change your life. How does it get any better than that? What else is possible?
