Due to an outbreak of MEASLES in our NorthEast area, we are taking extra precautions to protect those vulnerable to contracting this virus - including babies and young children.

🦠 MEASLES is very contagious and spreads easily. When an infected person breathes, coughs, or sneezes, the virus spreads through the air.

🦠 The MEASLES virus can survive in small droplets in the air for several hours. You can become infected when you breathe in these droplets or touch objects contaminated with the virus.

🦠 Do you have MEASLES symptoms including fever and/or:

▫️Cough
▫️Runny nose
▫️Red eyes
▫️Rash

If so, please DO NOT approach waiting area or front desk and call (250) 785-6677 so we can prepare for your arrival and give further instructions.

Please see below letter regarding Dr. Loomes upcoming departure from the community.

Dr. Loomes wants to ensure all her patients are aware that you will not be left without a family doctor.

We would like to give an early welcome to Dr. Frances Legge, who is currently finishing up her last year of residency here in Fort St John and will then pursue advanced obstetrical training until early Spring 2026 when she returns as your new family doctor taking over for Dr. Loomes.

In the interim, we have various locum physicians and our Nurse Practitioner, Shannon McRae, available to see Dr. Loomes patients.

* As of April 1, 2025 Dr. Makary will be working out of a new location in Fort St John *

Dr. Makary will still be your family doctor and your medical records will automatically go with her to her new office.

* Patients who already have appts scheduled in January, February and March at Dr. Makary’s current location will not change *

If you have inquires or would like to book an appt with Dr. Makary after March 31st, 2025 please call her new office at (250) 785-1220.

We recently chose Fort St. John Literacy Society to receive 100% of the funds received resulting from patient appointment no-shows over the last year.

❗️There were 698 appointment no-shows during this time❗️

Appointments are always in demand and timely access is not always readily available.

Aside from family practice, physicians who work in our clinic also help the community by dedicating their time to the ER, Prenatal & Obstetrics Clinic, Oncology, OR, Hospital Admitted Patients, Addiction Treatment and the Care Home.

✔️ Your early cancellation gives another patient the ability to have access to an appointment. There are currently hundreds of patients in the community without a family physician who would love the opportunity to have a family doctor as well as access to appointments.

Last minute cancellations and No-Shows (including arriving 10+ minutes late) prevent scheduling of other patients who need access to medical care.

✔️ We understand emergency situations sometimes occur and those are taken into account.

We thank you for your consideration of others and are hoping to see a large reduction in the amount of No-Shows to allow for other patients to access appointments.

We would like to send a big Thank YOU to our friends at the Fort St John Family Practice Associates Clinic for their recent donation of $8,000 towards our Dolly Parton Imagination Library children's book program!!
This donation was made possible from the no-show fees charged this year, which is when a patient does not show/cancel an appointment. The clinic donates 100% of these fees to local charities annually, and we are grateful to have been chosen this year!

➡️ The Fort St John Family Practice Associates Clinic Is Happy To Provide A Recruitment Update For Our Clinic.

As recently announced, Dr. Azza Makary is joining our clinic on August 1st to take over the care of Dr. Sandhu’s patients when she leaves the community.

We also have recruited 3 physicians who will start at our clinic in September and have committed to a 1-year long-term locum with us, with the possibility of remaining in the community for a longer period afterwards.

Dr. Claire Denley, Dr. Mario Rotundo and Dr. Dil Iqbal will be seeing patients who are currently registered at our clinic. We unfortunately are not able to accept any new patients at this time.

We sincerely understand the frustration of late with regards access to healthcare, especially in Fort St John, and we are very thankful to be able to provide additional access to our patients over the coming year.
