Congratulations to the U18 Boys on their Bronze Medal win Sunday at Meerkat!

There were 4 U18 teams: 3 SPVC teams (2 U18, 1 U17) and our NBCVC U18 team. The boys had a tough time in pool play having lost all 3 games. But when re-matched against SPVC’s U18 Green for the bronze medal final, they fought back to win the game in 2 straight sets!

They were neck and neck for most of the first set which ended 31-29 (I haven’t seen a score like that in a long time!), then took the second with a wider gap of 25-20. The boys played a fast paced, hard working, relentless game…so much fun to watch!

What a great weekend for U13 Freeze!

Going 6-2 and while not getting the bronze medal, they played incredibly as a team and showed true sportsmanship every step of the way. Finishing 4th overall, their coaches could not be more proud of them.

Thanks for the shoutout Energetic city! We’re pretty proud of our home tournament, and even more proud of the warm welcome FSJ offered to the visiting teams!

A couple of notes to add that were mentioned, but didn’t make it into the article:
🏐NBCVC held annual tournaments before Covid, but they were held mid-season
🏐Thanks also to our community sponsors who support our teams year after year as they travel across Alberta to compete!

The City of FSJ is seeking feedback for future phases of their aquatics facility.
Please complete the survey and let them know how important indoor gym space is!

We are so appreciative of the gym space shared with us by SD60, but our growing community can certainly use some more! Wouldn’t it be nice to have a large space for events like our tournament last weekend? Or a place to practice over Christmas/Spring Break? Or skills clinics over the summer? Share your ideas here!

We’re Moving Forward on a New Aquatics Facility!

The City of Fort St. John has developed an initial concept for the new Aquatics Facility, shaped by years of community feedback. The proposed Phase 1 design includes:
🟦 Lap & leisure pools with accessible entries
🟨 Hot pool, sauna & steam room
🟦 Waterslide & splash pad
🟨 Indoor fieldhouse
🟦 Shared lobby & support spaces

We’re also exploring Phase 2 options, including an outdoor turf field and gymnasium spaces.

We now need your input by February 1 to help shape a modern, inclusive, community-focused aquatics facility.

Another tournament in the books, and we couldn’t have done it without you. You know who you are - every single one of you.

Parents, families, coaches, players, referees, scorekeepers, volunteers, organizers, sponsors, schools (NPSS, Anne Roberts, Ma Murray, and Bowes), custodial staff, and all the services in our community.

All weekend long we watched a stream of helpers share their time and experience for the love of volleyball and our youth 🏐

Our children are lucky to have you, and we appreciate you so much.
