Throughout the month of April, a portion of every pair of glasses purchased at our clinic was donated to the Fort Saskatchewan Nourishment Centre.

Thanks to the incredible support of our patients and community, we were proud to donate $1,500 to help support the important work they do every day.

One of our owners, Kelly, had the opportunity to personally deliver the cheque and tour the Nourishment Centre. It was a truly humbling and beautiful experience to see firsthand the compassion, care, and support they provide to individuals and families in our community.

We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this possible. Supporting our community is something that means so much to us, and we’re honoured to give back alongside all of you. 💙

Someone just got a new set of glasses and is absolutely rocking them 😍✨

Tatum came in, picked out the perfect frames, and left seeing the world a whole lot clearer. So sweet!

Nothing makes us happier than helping our little patients feel confident, comfy, and excited about their vision 💕

Way to go, Tatum—you make glasses look GOOD! 😎

👁️ Why do we patch an eye in amblyopia?

It might seem a little counterintuitive at first—but patching the stronger eye is one of the most effective ways to treat “lazy eye” (amblyopia).

Here’s why 👇
When one eye is weaker, the brain starts to rely on the stronger eye and “ignore” the other. Over time, the weaker eye doesn’t develop the vision it should.

🩹 By placing a patch over the stronger eye, we gently force the brain to use the weaker one—helping it build stronger visual connections.

Consistency is key. Even a few hours a day can make a big difference when guided by an eye care professional.

Early treatment = better outcomes ✨

If you have questions about patching or your child’s vision, don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

💻👓 Blue Light Lenses: Do they actually help?

If you spend hours on screens, you’ve probably heard about blue light glasses—but what do they really do?

🔍 Here’s the breakdown:

Blue light is a high-energy visible light emitted by digital screens and LED lighting. While it’s not inherently harmful in normal amounts, prolonged exposure can contribute to:

• Eye strain & fatigue
• Dry, irritated eyes (from reduced blinking)
• Disrupted sleep cycles (especially at night)

✨ So where do blue light lenses come in?

Blue light lenses are designed to filter or reduce a portion of blue light reaching your eyes. Depending on the lens, they may:

• Improve visual comfort during long screen sessions
• Reduce glare and enhance contrast
• Help support better sleep when used in the evening

👀 Important to know:
They’re not a “magic fix.” Healthy habits—like regular breaks, proper lighting, and screen positioning—still matter most.

💡 Who benefits most?
• People working on screens 6+ hours/day
• Students
• Anyone noticing digital eye strain or sleep disruption

👓 Curious if they’re right for you? We can help you choose lenses that fit your lifestyle.

Your vision, your comfort—optimized.

Halfway through April and there’s still plenty of time to make a difference! 💛

April is a great reminder to come together and support our local food bank. Every donation helps provide meals and support to individuals and families in our community.

Have an upcoming eye appointment? Feel free to bring a non-perishable food item with you—we’ll have a donation box ready for drop-off in the clinic!

Let’s finish the month strong and show what our community can do when we rally together! 🙌

Happy Wednesday! 👓🧀

We’re turning up the cheese today…

Why did the eye doctor open a bakery?
Because they were great at making eye-rolls! 😄

And remember…
Without your glasses, you’re just spec-tacularly blurry 😉

Have a sharp, in-focus kind of day! 👀✨
