For many children (and adults), “sorry” becomes a quick fix to escape the discomfort of repair. But true repair is more than a word—it’s a process.

If your child blurts out an apology in frustration, it doesn’t mean they aren’t sorry—it just means they need guidance on how to make it meaningful.

Instead of demanding politeness, pause and teach: 💬 “Let’s talk about what happened.”
💛 “Can you see how they might be feeling?”
🛠 “What can we do to make things right?”

This is how children learn empathy, accountability, and emotional safety—not from forced apologies, but from compassionate connection.

It takes longer. But it lasts a lifetime.
