Last week we had the privilege of participating in Hanwell Park Academy's career fair, where we introduced students to the field of physiotherapy. It was a wonderful opportunity to educate young minds about the importance of movement, rehabilitation, and the role physiotherapists play in promoting health and wellness! ✨

How can acupuncture help you heal?

Our Physiotherapist, Angela, offers acupuncture and she is excited to add this treatment to help her clients reach their goals.
Acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that involves the insertion of small, thin needles into specific acupuncture points along meridians of the body. It's a safe and effective modality that aims to bring the body back into balance by stimulating nerves and muscles and can be used alongside our laser treatments to speed the body's recovery.

Acupuncture can help with

🔹Reducing inflammation
🔹Improving blood flow
🔹Relieving pain
🔹Reducing stress
🔹Releasing muscle tension
🔹Aiding in tissue repair and healing
🔹Promote energy

We're excited that we now have 3 practitioners onsite, between The Town Physio and River Valley Health Solution, to help our community.

What happens to your body on a walk?

Walking can offer numerous health benefits to people of all ages and fitness levels.

Here are just a few benefits 👇

🔹 Walking boosts blood flow to the brain, decreases stress hormones and releases endorphins, improving mood and lowering depression
🔹 Walking can help maintain bone health
🔹 Increasing your heart rate improves blood flow and helps your heart pump more efficiently, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease
🔹 A walk after eating can help food move through your digestive system, reducing bloating and digestive issues.
🔹Walking can help reduce insulin sensitivity, keeping blood sugar levels balanced and energy levels even
🔹 Movement increases the circulation of synovial fluid around the joints, providing essential lubrication and nutrients to the cartilage
🔹 Walking daily can also help you get a better night's rest

Rotator cuff issues are frustrating to say the least, they affect a key area of the anatomy that is required to perform a majority of functions. If left untreated, these injuries can put you out for a long time.

Many people with rotator cuff injuries can manage their symptoms and return to activities with Physiotherapy, exercises that improve flexibility and strengthening of the muscles surrounding the shoulder joint.

Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) can be an effective method in treating rotator cuff injuries by increasing ATP production which then the cells use to repair, regenerate, create new healthy cells and form new blood vessels. Light therapy also increases circulation and decreases inflammation.

If you are suffering from Rotator cuff issues and would like to learn more about LLLT and how it might help you, give us a call and book an assessment today.

If you have an injured disc, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease or any issue that affects your nerves then spinal decompression may be the best treatment for you.

Spinal decompression is a non-invasive form of traction treatment that uses a special motorized table to relieve pressure, give spacing back to the spinal discs and promotes natural healing. It provides relief to clients who suffer from chronic back and neck pain, reducing the pressure within spinal discs by gently lengthening your spine so you can find your way back to proper alignment. It may take more than one treatment for the spine to be fully realigned, but the spinal decompression can greatly reduce or eliminate chronic back and neck pain

Shoulder impingement is a painful condition that happens when tendons and muscles in your shoulder rubs against bone or other soft tissue. The shoulder pain can be severe enough that it makes it difficult to work and perform everyday tasks. If left untreated, a shoulder impingement can sometimes lead to further injury.

How can physiotherapy help treat shoulder impingement?

🔹Manual therapy – Manual therapy uses hands-on techniques to break up scar tissue, reduce tension and promote flexibility in areas of muscle that are painful and stiff

🔹Therapeutic exercises – Your physiotherapist can guide you through exercises and stretches specifically designed to increase strength and restore flexibility. This not only reduces pain but also helps prevents injury in the future

🔹Laser treatment - Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) can be an effective method in treating shoulder injuries by increasing ATP production which then the cells use to repair, regenerate, create new healthy cells and form new blood vessels. Light therapy also increases circulation and decreases inflammation

If your shoulder impingement is preventing you from doing the things you enjoy, and would like to learn more on how physiotherapy can help give us a call and book an assessment today.
