We have exciting news!

We are delighted to announce that our Managing Director Lori Barton has become a shareholder in the business.

Lori joined us as an apprentice funeral director in 2000 and has served hundreds of families in and around Fredericton and Oromocto in the almost 25 years since. She has played a key role in the growth and development of the business and, having been appointed Managing Director earlier this year, now leads our entire service team overseeing day-to-day operations.

This move represents the initial stage of a succession plan to secure the future of our company for both our customers and employees. "From the beginning Lori has been a contributor to our business; compassionate, attentive to detail and a leader," says McAdam's President Andrew Perry. "And now, her knowledge and experience make her the ideal candidate to steward McAdam's next chapter. Our company has a proud legacy of new leadership emerging from within and we are thrilled to see that continue."

While there will be little immediate change in roles - and absolutely no disruption to our services - Lori has begun to take on some new responsibilities and is working closely with Andrew to advance her skills in management of the overall business.

Recently a few of our staff had a McDonalds experience like never before, with Celebrity Servers wearing white gloves, a special performance by renowned Violin and Viola player Natalia Delacroix, and more!
Local McDonald’s restaurant owners, along with Riverview Ford/Lincoln, once again hosted this special evening of food, community, and fun at their Prospect Street location. All proceeds went in support of the Chalmers Foundation’s Cancer Support Program.

The following are a few quotes taken from the ceremony, which was held on September 17, 2024.

“Tonight is about remembrance, love and treasured thoughts. Many of you have brought letters and cards to our memory mailbox over the last year. In these, I’m sure, are your written memories, your inner thoughts or maybe just a day-to-day conversation you wrote to your loved one. We have collected all of these written treasures together and brought them down to their smallest form of ash, to scatter amongst our memorial garden.”

“We do hope that our ceremonial scattering here tonight brings a measure of comfort to you all. This act of remembrance can transform your grief into a tangible expression of farewell. It’s a way of integrating our sorrow into the natural world. Letting our thoughts and feelings be one with the earth and allowing it to foster the growth of a beautiful memorial garden. Let the M. Joyce Perry Memorial Garden be a place you can return to and sit with your thoughts and revel in your memories.”

“Our Letter’s to Loved Ones program is the first of its kind in Canada”

“Everyone is welcome to participate, regardless of when or where your loved one died, or where services took place. Your letters will be gathered regularly, and kept safe. Once a year, we will burn the sealed letters, symbolically releasing your messages of love to those you’ve lost. We will then invite you all to gather, as we are today, for a short memorial ceremony, where we will scatter the ashes in our memorial garden” at McAdam’s Funeral Home in Fredericton.
