My name is Anaya Marie (they/them) and I am a certified Birth and Post-Partum Doula. I was born and raised in Nova Scotia and have been living my life here in New Brunswick since 2016. I have always been passionate about babies, children, and parenthood soon I was a little girl. However after being a preschool teacher for 2 years I've come to realize just how taxing it is on my body (I have widesp

read chronic pain). I remembered learning about midwives and doulas when I was attending NBCC for my ECE certificate however it felt a little late for that route as I was already in a course. Funny how 2 years later can roll by and know for sure now that it is your calling. As an omnis*xual; genderfluid; agender; polyamourous; s*x positive person, I truly look forward to helping people, of all backgrounds, on this beautiful new journey.

Two days ago with autism awareness day and the whole month of april is autism awareness month. As someone who has numerous people they care about with autism and may even be on the spectrum myself I think this month is really important! However while we do need awareness what we need even more is acceptance. Being autistic isn't something that needs fixed, it is something that needs embraced and accepted.

Another important thing to remember is many autistic people have babies and families. Something that we don't talk about enough is how their experiences differ from neurotypical people. Last year I made a post about this and I will be sharing it to my story. So check it out if you haven't already!

Hello everyone! This week's reading is from the Gaia Oracle deck by Toni Carmine Salerno. The card I pulled today is Gaia.

This card is a great card to get during this time of season changes. This card shows that you have a deep spiritual connection to the earth and a deep spiritual understanding of life. Getting this card is also a sign of thanks from Gaia, for the love and consideration you show her and all living things. This card also encourages you to share your wisdom and knowledge of the earth with others. However do not do this in a way that preaches but do this with like minded people who are ready to hear these messages. If you're less comfortable with having these conversations with others you could choose more practical ways to spread your wisdom, by helping to restore Earth's balance and well-being.

Today is International Women's Day. The theme this year is Inspire Inclusion. One way we can do this is helping women, girls, and those with a uterus make informed decisions about their health. As a Doula this is one of my biggest goals. Everyone deserves to give informed consent on anything happening to their body!

February is Black History month and I just wanted to take a moment to shout out black moms. On top of the regular mom struggles they have they have to combat racism and teach their children how to as well. I can't even begin to imagine how difficult that must be. So lets all take a moment to appreciate it everything black moms go through.

Hello everyone! It has been awhile. It started off as a break due to a power outage and then the holidays and ended up becoming an extended mental health break. The majority of you are likely unaware that in November I found out I was pregnant again. Unfortunately the first week on January I started miscarrying. During this miscarriage I discovered I had been pregnant with twins (Lennon and Sage) which was especially devastating to me. I have been getting some testing done and lots of bloodwork to track my HCG levels. This miscarriage was longer than the last one. I miscarried for an entire month. However things seem to be finally slowing down and I am ready to be back posting.

However despite being back I am planning on changing my frequency in posting. Previously I had been posting 3 times a week but for now I will just be making one weekly post. We'll see over time how I am feeling and if I decide to increase that.

Tis the season for cheese and charcuterie boards! However during pregnancy we have to be careful that what we are eating is safe. When it comes to cheese the message is pretty straightforward, pasteurized is safe and unpasteurized isn't. Going through this post you'll learn why unpasteurized cheese isn't safe, which cheeses are generally pasteurized and which are not. However it is always best to check the label. For example Feta is often considered unpasteurized however I have seen pasteurized feta! So don't miss out on goodies by not checking labels!

Yesterday was International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Very often we see disabled people left out of the birthing conversation but they're here too! If you're disabled and looking for a doula, especially one who will understand where you are coming from, as I am disabled too, don't be afraid to reach out!
