Taking the first step toward counselling can feel both hopeful—and a little daunting. You might wonder: “Is this really for me?” or “What if it doesn’t help?”

Here’s what I want you to know:
1. 🌟 It’s OK to be unsure.
Seeking support doesn’t mean you’re “broken.” It means you’re ready to grow.
2. 🤲 You’ll be heard.
In our work together, you get a fully confidential, non‑judgemental space to share whatever’s on your mind—big or small.
3. 🛠️You’ll get tools.
Whether you need coping strategies, new perspectives, or just a compassionate ear, we’ll tailor our sessions to what serves you best.
4. ⏰ It doesn’t have to be forever.
Some folks meet for a few sessions; others stay longer. We’ll decide together what pace feels right.

Self-care means… prioritizing your mental and emotional well-being, even when life feels busy.

It’s not just about relaxation—it’s about meeting your needs in a way that supports your overall health. True self-care includes:

1️⃣ Setting boundaries – Protecting your time, energy, and emotional space.
2️⃣ Listening to your emotions – Acknowledging how you feel without judgment.
3️⃣ Saying no when needed – Prioritizing what truly aligns with your well-being.
4️⃣ Resting without guilt – Recognizing that rest is productive.
5️⃣ Moving your body mindfully – Engaging in movement that feels good, not forced.
6️⃣ Practicing self-compassion – Speaking to yourself with kindness, especially on hard days.
7️⃣ Seeking support – Reaching out for help when you need it, whether from friends, family, or a counsellor.
8️⃣ Fueling your body with care – Eating in a way that supports both physical and mental well-being.

Self-care isn’t selfish—it’s necessary. What’s one way you’re taking care of yourself today? Let me know in the comments! 👇🏼

“How do I know if counselling is right for me?”

Counselling isn’t just for moments of crisis—it’s for anyone who wants support, clarity, or personal growth. You don’t need to have a diagnosed mental health condition or a “big” problem to benefit. If you’ve ever thought…

✔️ I feel stuck and don’t know what to do next.
✔️ I keep experiencing the same patterns in my relationships or thoughts.
✔️ I feel overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally drained.
✔️ I want a safe, non-judgmental space to process my experiences.
✔️ I want to understand myself better and develop healthier coping strategies.

…then counselling could be a valuable space for you.

If you’re curious but unsure, I’m happy to answer any questions. You can reach me at lindsey@budovitchcounselling.ca or visit www.budovitchcounselling.ca to learn more.

4️⃣ Healing from Past Experiences – Work through unresolved emotions, trauma, or limiting beliefs holding you back.

One of the most common questions I get is: ‘How many counselling sessions will I need?’

The truth is, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. The number of sessions depends on your individual goals, needs, and the pace that feels right for you. Some people find short-term counselling helpful for specific concerns, while others benefit from longer-term support.

We’ll work together to determine what feels best for you. If you have any questions or want to book a session, reach out via email at lindsey@budovitchcounselling.ca or visit www.budovitchcounselling.ca. Your healing journey is unique, and I’m here to support you every step of the way. 💙

🌿 What is Anxiety? 🌿
Anxiety is more than just stress or worry—it’s a feeling of unease that can show up as
nervousness, fear, or a constant sense of dread. It’s normal to feel anxious sometimes, but for
many, anxiety can become overwhelming, affecting daily life and well-being.
Anxiety can show up in many ways: racing thoughts, physical symptoms (like a fast heartbeat or
sweating), and even difficulty focusing. It’s your mind’s response to perceived threats, but when
it lingers or escalates, it may require support.
Counseling can help you better understand your anxiety, identify triggers, and develop strategies
to manage it effectively. You don’t have to carry it alone. 💙
Remember, it’s okay to ask for help when anxiety feels too big to handle by yourself. 🌱

🌿 What is Informed Consent in Counselling? 🌿
Informed consent is a crucial part of the counselling process, ensuring that you understand and
agree to the therapy process before it begins. It’s about your right to make informed decisions
about your mental health care and be fully aware of what to expect.
When you give informed consent, it means:
📜 You’re provided with clear information about the therapy process, goals, and methods.
💬 You have the opportunity to ask questions and understand your therapist’s approach.
🔒 You are informed about confidentiality and how your personal information will be protected.
🤝 You are agreeing to the counselling process in a way that feels comfortable and safe for you.
Informed consent is not a one-time thing – it’s an ongoing conversation throughout therapy,
ensuring your needs and boundaries are respected every step of the way.
💙
If you’re starting therapy, remember that you always have the right to ask questions and ensure
you’re comfortable with the process.
