Lately, I’ve been sitting with cacao not as a “ceremony,”
but as a remembering.
Cacao doesn’t force anything open.
It doesn’t push healing.
It softens the body just enough for truth to arrive safely.
Through my own healing, I’ve learned that real change doesn’t come through effort or analysis.
It comes when the body feels met.
Cacao works with the heart, yes.
But even more than that, it works with safety.
Safety to feel.
Safety to move.
Safety to sound.
In ancient cultures, cacao wasn’t used to transcend the body—it was used to come home to it, through rhythm, voice, and shared presence.
In other words:
sound, movement, cacao, rhythm, and gathering weren’t special experiences.
They were:
– how people stayed well
– how emotions moved
– how grief was held
– how joy was shared
– how the nervous system stayed balanced
We call it “spiritual” now because we lost it.
And slowly—quietly—we’re remembering again.
