Hi everyone,
My name is Breanne Spady, and I wanted to take a moment to re-introduce myself, as I’ve gained new insights and completed additional training over the past few years.
I am a Licensed Counselling Therapist (LCT) who works with adults experiencing a range of mental health concerns, including (but not limited to) anxiety, depression, PTSD, early life trauma, and single-incident trauma. I have had the joy of working at Balance Psychology Clinic for coming on three years now.
I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, which are selected collaboratively with each client following the initial intake. Together, we determine what feels like the best fit for their goals and needs. Some of the approaches I most commonly draw from include DBT, ACT, CBT, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and my most recent addition, EMDR. Each modality has its own strengths, and I value having a flexible toolkit to support different symptoms and experiences.
In particular, I have experience supporting individuals who have experienced intimate partner violence, as well as providing parenting support. I also have a special focus on working with neurodivergent individuals, based on trainings that prioritize content made by neurodivergent individuals. Another special interest group I support are first responders, and those who have regular exposure to secondary trauma (caregivers, occupation based, for example).
Those who have worked with me often describe me as warm, genuine, and professional. My favourite part of counselling is the connections I build with clients and witnessing the strength and courage that I see everyday. Creating space for client feedback: about the therapeutic approach or how I’m showing up in the room is something I deeply value. I also believe there is an important place for humour in therapy, when appropriate.
I’ve recently had a few openings become available and welcome individuals to reach out if they feel I might be a good fit for them.
