Hi everyone,

My name is Breanne Spady, and I wanted to take a moment to re-introduce myself, as I’ve gained new insights and completed additional training over the past few years.

I am a Licensed Counselling Therapist (LCT) who works with adults experiencing a range of mental health concerns, including (but not limited to) anxiety, depression, PTSD, early life trauma, and single-incident trauma. I have had the joy of working at Balance Psychology Clinic for coming on three years now.

I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, which are selected collaboratively with each client following the initial intake. Together, we determine what feels like the best fit for their goals and needs. Some of the approaches I most commonly draw from include DBT, ACT, CBT, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and my most recent addition, EMDR. Each modality has its own strengths, and I value having a flexible toolkit to support different symptoms and experiences.

In particular, I have experience supporting individuals who have experienced intimate partner violence, as well as providing parenting support. I also have a special focus on working with neurodivergent individuals, based on trainings that prioritize content made by neurodivergent individuals. Another special interest group I support are first responders, and those who have regular exposure to secondary trauma (caregivers, occupation based, for example).

Those who have worked with me often describe me as warm, genuine, and professional. My favourite part of counselling is the connections I build with clients and witnessing the strength and courage that I see everyday. Creating space for client feedback: about the therapeutic approach or how I’m showing up in the room is something I deeply value. I also believe there is an important place for humour in therapy, when appropriate.

I’ve recently had a few openings become available and welcome individuals to reach out if they feel I might be a good fit for them.

Still time to donate!!!

I wanted to take a moment to say congrats to Autism Connections for their annual fundraiser event.

I had the pleasure of being accompanied by some of our wonderful clinicians— Breanne and Michael (and his fun kids!) as well as Jaxson (our co-op student), who found the name of our team, the Spare Bears. 🌈

We also had Tommy join us to make the best full fun team! Tommy’s mother, Audrey, is the author of « Tommy Tempête », a book that explains autism to elementary children (Amazon.ca)

It was truly a fun afternoon for a meaningful cause, and all the funds raised stay right here in our community!!! Our team showed up with heart, laughter, and a whole lot of team spirit.

Please note: the funding link will stay open for one more week — it’s not too late to donate. If you’d like to support a great cause, see the link below. 💛 and if you send us your proof of donation at admin@balanceclinic.ca, you will be entered in a draw to win a copy of the book « Tommy Tempête » and a cool fidgets package, as a thank you!
