I’m in shock and disbelief at this moment just hearing the sad news of Dr Debbie Stymiest. She was far too young and too bright a light to leave us so soon.
So as I sit and fondly remember Debbie, the thoughts that come to my mind, she was a friend, colleague and a mentor to me.
We worked closely together in the care of her many patients for over a decade. We had a sincere mutual appreciation for each other’s abilities and strengths in dentistry which gave us the most memorable synergy I have experienced in my career.
Debbie’s standards of care and ethics were second to none.
She was an incredible role model not just for women but all dentists.
She was a fierce advocate for dentists at the national level as our CDA president and I was so incredibly proud for her to be the first woman to fill this auspicious role.
I am heartbroken for her family. I know she was so proud of her daughters. She will always be remembered as an amazing professional dentist mom and spouse anyone of us could aspire to be more like; Debbie is simply unforgettable and I will miss her.
