Early Childhood Educator Study Leave Substitute

Would you like to help an existing Early Childhood Educator obtain their professional qualification by covering their study leave in an exciting new program being tested by The Early Childhood Education Lab offered by NouLAB: New Brunswick's Social and Public Policy Innovation Lab?
The Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Study Leave Substitute will work one shift per week at the Moncton Sportsdome and Margies Early Learning Centre for 12 weeks, to provide an existing team member with the opportunity to take paid leave while studying for their credentials. During each shift, the ECE Substitute will deliver a quality caring and supportive early childhood education program while meeting all regulatory standards. This position reports to the Centre director.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 6 months experience working with children, in the Early Childhood Education, or Education sector preferred
To join the supply list, you would have to complete:
Criminal Record or Vulnerable Sector Check;
Check with Department of Social Development; and,
First Aid/CPR training.
You would also have to take the province's free Introduction to Early Childhood Education Course (90 hours) if you don't already have your Early Childhood Education Credential. If you haven't already completed the course, showing proof of registration is acceptable.
Duties / Responsibilities
Take two-day orientation provided by the Centre
Carry out indoor and outdoor activities that have been planned for the children that day
Willing and able to get down on floor and play
Change diapers Feed children Be outside, take children for walks
Read to children
Be actively engaged with children 5-12 (Sportsdome) and 0-15months (YW Margie's Early Learning Centre)
Supervise and engage with children
Be aware of and adhere to licensing requirements
Be part of a team but work independently
Take part in interview at beginning and end of contract to reflect on the role
Working Conditions
The childcare facility is located in New Maryland and licensed for 60 children
Indoor and outdoor activities
Standing, bending, crouching, some lifting
Wages
$14.90 per hour (without ECE Credential) or $19 per hour (with ECE Credential - one year certificate or more)
You will be paid for time at orientation course and each shift worked
Costs incurred obtaining required checks and First Aid/CPR training will be reimbursed
Hours of Work
One day per week for 12 weeks, starting October 4th - December 17th
Sportsdome (Monday or Wednesday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm)
Margie's Early Learning Centre (Mondays 8am-5pm with 1 hour lunch break)
