I am very grateful, thankful, blessed, and humbled to have received one of the Women in Business awards from the Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce for 2023.
I turned down my opportunity to speak, but there was something sitting with me that I should have said. So here it goes.
I recently read about a lady who had encountered a barrier/obstacles when running a business, she was quite bitter about this and then finished it all by saying because of her struggle we should create another such barrier and put it in front of men.
As a woman in business myself, this really hit home for me.
If you're a business owner or an entrepreneur, just ask your, have I ever had to face a barrier, and that answer is definitely yes.
Acknowledge that for yourself, and feel whatever feelings you need to feel about it and now take a deep breath in and all the way out and let yourself, say, well done.
Dont let it make you bitter towards others. Let it make you strong.
My goal as a woman in business is to be proud of the barriers I have overcome, and no matter if those barriers seems unfair or even if they just really doesn't make sense, I want to problem solve how to overcome or remove these barries. I don't want to be bitter and place another unjust or silly barrier in front of anyone else, and I also don't want to hide the answers to the problem from others.
As a women in business I want to remove as many barriers as possible for everyone and if I can't remove those barriers, I want to turn around reach my arm down over that barrier and help someone else overcome it. Without definitions or prejudice, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or orientation. Simply because we are all human and we all deserve to succeed.
I hold myself to that challenge daily, and I'd like to challenge you all to do the same.
Thank you all for your continued support.
Sending love and positive vibes.
