Age-related macular degeneration, also referred to as AMD, is a progressive eye disease that affects your vision, often accompanied by worsening symptoms over time.

October is Children’s Vision Month supported by Canadian Association of Optometrists & Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Optometrists to raise awareness of the impact undiagnosed vision problems can have on a child’s learning and development.

According to Canadian Association of Optometrists untreated vision problems can impact children’s ability to learn, because so much of classroom learning is visual. An estimated 25% of school-age children in Canada have vision problems. Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Optometrists says playing outdoors can help maintain children’s eyesight.
