Thought I would hop on this trend and actually introduce myself on this account! My name is Dr. Amali Firhoj, and I am a Naturopathic Doctor at Cornerstone Health Centre in Georgetown, now offering full-time hours.

Some facts about me:

Dance was my “sport” growing up and classical ballet was my genre of choice. It is what originally made me so passionate about health and the human body 🩰 🎶

Running is a new-ish hobby I picked up over COVID- I absolutely hated it before, but since signing up for a few races with my husband, we are both hooked! 🏃🏼‍♀️

Cooking is truly my favourite way to unwind- and pasta variations are my favourite. 🍝

I absolutely love anything trivia related, especially Jeopardy, and apply to be on it annually (it is a lottery process 😅)

Part of my commitment to patients is my commitment to being a lifelong learner 🤓📚. This year that meant to IFM’s Annual Conference in Las Vegas!

Topics included:

- Importance of muscle mass throughout lifespan

- Our current agriculture practices and how they influence the mineral and macronutrient content of food

- How exercise requirements for women change from puberty to menopause

- New data (and a new name!) for Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

- Vagus nerve stimulation and its influence on inflammatory conditions/autoimmune diseases

This is a part of my job that I truly enjoy. Learning from industry leaders and meeting with a diverse group of practitioners is always such a pick me up and reminds me about why our work is so important. Also helped that my bestie came with!!
