I was out for an early morning walk and paid attention to the way I was walking. I remembered that it's important to lead with the hips. My Pilates training showed me the difference.

Why you might ask. In doing so your upper body is upright, your core is engaged and your legs float effortly under you making walking more enjoyable and a full body workout. When you lead with your head and shoulders your back and shoulders tend to be more rounded and your legs have to catchup. When you lead with your feet your head tends to lean forward putting a strain on your back and neck.

Notice the next time your out for a walk what takes the lead. Then, give the hips the lead and see what you think. Did you feel a difference?
