Earlier this month we celebrated an incredible milestone — 8 years of recovery! 🌟

We are so humbled and grateful to walk alongside Cole on his recovery journey. Over the past eight years, his dedication, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to recovery have been truly inspiring. Cole continues to give back to the recovery community and the Aurora Alumni, always offering encouragement, support, and hope to others walking this path.

He is a true role model — showing that recovery is not only possible but that it can lead to a meaningful, purpose-filled life. Milestones like this remind us that every day in recovery counts, and that healing happens one moment, one choice, and one act of courage at a time.

Congratulations, Cole — your journey continues to inspire us all. 💪❤️

We went medicine picking and shared teachings, protocol, and medicine making. Songs were sung and the drum was shared in gratitude for the healing gifts of the land. Honouring our traditions keeps our spirits strong and guides us on the path to wellness.

Did you know? Our Extended Care members joined the N’Dinawemak Community Care team for their outreach walks—walking in care and connection through the neighbourhood. 💙

Relatives helping relatives, community helping community. This is one of the ways we give back, showing our support and care for those around us. 🌿✨

Wellness in recovery comes to us in all sorts of ways!
Dancing is one of those activities that brings it all together — fitness, laughter, and connection. It lifts the spirit, strengthens the body, and reminds us how good it feels to just let go and move! 💃🕺✨

🌈🌵 Macramé & Recovery 🌵🌈

At Kraft Korner, our clients explored macramé — a creative and calming way to work with their hands. They designed beautiful rainbow and cactus wall art, each piece a reflection of patience, focus, and personal expression.

Macramé is an easy yet rewarding activity that encourages mindfulness and relaxation. In recovery, these moments of creativity remind us that small steps and steady effort can lead to something meaningful and lasting.

Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming Kara from Wounded Warriors Canada for a tour of our Gimli facility.

Wounded Warriors Canada provides vital mental health and wellness support for veterans, first responders, and their families — through trauma therapy, PTSD service dogs, a virtual sleep clinic, and family programs like Warrior Kids.

Building relationships with organizations like Wounded Warriors is so important. Together, we can share knowledge, strengthen trauma-informed care, and create a stronger network of support for those on their healing journey. 💙

Healing Through Horses 🐴🐾

Equine-assisted learning is a powerful part of recovery. Horses and donkeys respond to honesty and presence, helping clients build trust, patience, and emotional awareness. These connections teach mindfulness, empathy, and healthy boundaries—supporting growth and long-term healing.

🦃 Happy Thanksgiving! 🍂
We’re grateful for our community, our staff, and our clients who inspire us every day on the journey of recovery. 🤎

10/11/2025

We take a moment to pause and give thanks — to reflect with gratitude on all that we are fortunate for: our health, our families, our community, and the opportunity each day to grow, heal, and support one another on the path of recovery. 🤎

🌍 World Mental Health Day – October 10th 💚

Today, we join people around the world in recognizing World Mental Health Day — a day to raise awareness, fight stigma, and remind one another that mental health matters every day.

At Aurora, we understand that mental health is a vital part of recovery. Many of the individuals we support are healing from addiction, trauma, and mental health challenges. Through compassion, creativity, community, and cultural connection, we help our clients rediscover balance, purpose, and hope on their journey to wellness.

Let’s continue to speak openly about mental health, check in on one another, and create spaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported. 💚

This past week at Aurora, we gathered in ceremony under the Full Moon.

Our women came together to share teachings about the moon, release, and renewal. The evening included a smudge, sharing circle, and a letting go to***co offering to the sacred fire.

Songs and drumming filled the air, creating a beautiful space of healing, connection, and empowerment for all who attended.

We honour the strength, wisdom, and spirit of women walking their healing journeys together.

"The body benefits from movement, and the mind benefits from stillness" – Sakyong Mipham

In recovery, one of our goals is to find that almost elusive stillness, calm and inner peace. Like recovery, finding it will take some of the hardest work you will ever do. Come, set your intention to heal and find your peace with us at Aurora.
