I would like to thank all of the staff here at BIMRC. Every single one of them has a heart of gold and has truly chosen the right career path.
The last few months have been hectic, filled with many positive changes and growth. Here at BIMRC, we are incredibly blessed to have such an amazing team. Every day, so many remarkable individuals walk through our doors, and we continue to witness more and more success stories unfold.
One of the best parts of the work we do is watching people grow, heal, and move forward in their recovery journeys. Recovery is something we take very seriously, and we are proud to stand beside those taking those important steps.
We would also like to thank everyone who has donated and supported us along the way. Your generosity and kindness truly make a difference.
Here’s to another beautiful year ahead of us filled with hope, healing, and continued success.

Testimonial

“I attended here in the fall and winter of 2025. I wholeheartedly believe that we are where we are exactly meant to be. My reconnection to spirit through my stay at BIMRC has undoubtedly helped me stay on this forward-moving positive journey. I love to attend the open meetings at the centre twice a week and remind the participants of how powerful and beautiful this place is."

“We are exactly where we are supposed to be.” — Allan Whitson

We would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Chris and Frida from 468 Fort McMurray First Nation for their incredibly thoughtful donation of sewing machines and a Cree language learning book.

Part of our programming includes the making of ribbon skirts, ribbon shirts, and many other creations that our clients would like to make during their stay. These sewing machines will provide meaningful opportunities for creativity, cultural connection, healing, and learning.

This donation is truly significant to our centre and will bring smiles to many people for years to come. We are so grateful for your kindness, generosity, and support of our community.

Thank you again for such a thoughtful and meaningful donation.

Meet Trina and Leo! How can we forget our support staff? They are such an important part of what happens here. They support clients after hours when the day staff leaves, making sure care and support continue around the clock. These two work incredibly hard and have huge hearts, dedicating their time and energy to being here for others. We truly appreciate everything they do!

On Red Dress Day, we pause to honor and remember the lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Two-Spirit people, and Indigenous men. This day is not only about remembrance, but also about truth, awareness, and the ongoing call for justice.

As Executive Director Amanda and Program Manager Donna, alongside the rest of our dedicated team, we stand with families, survivors, and communities in both grief and strength. The red dress has become a powerful symbol representing those who are no longer with us and the voices that must continue to be heard.

Today, BIMRC was honored to welcome a special guest speaker, Stacy Bellerose of Waniska Boxing, who leads an Indigenous women’s boxing class. We extend our sincere thanks to her for taking the time to share her powerful story of addiction, trauma, resilience, and success. Her words were a meaningful reminder of strength, healing, and the importance of community.

We would also like to express our deep gratitude to the Elder who joined us this afternoon to share cultural teachings, grounding the day in knowledge, tradition, and spirit. We extend our thanks as well to one of our Board members for attending in support, and to Zane from Kokum’s House for being present with us today.

A heartfelt thank you to our cook, Lauretta, for preparing such a special meal. Your care and effort helped bring everyone together in a meaningful way, and it was truly appreciated.

We welcome all who gather in solidarity today. Whether you are here to learn, to support, or to reflect, your presence matters. Together, we commit to listening deeply, amplifying Indigenous voices, and working toward a future where safety, dignity, and justice are realities for all Indigenous peoples.

Today, we remember. Today, we stand united. And every day, we continue the work.

Here at BIMRC, we are working on something new and exciting!

Donna, our Program Manager, facilitates relapse prevention, and we have decided to develop it into a dedicated workbook. Even more exciting, we are also creating a structured program at the end of treatment. This means clients’ final week will now be spent with Donna, learning and building a personalized relapse prevention plan.

Similar to our pre-treatment program with Vicky, we will now also offer a closing program focused on relapse prevention. This final step is designed to help solidify each client’s recovery, strengthen confidence, and support them as they transition back into daily life with greater courage and clarity.

A pre-treatment workbook is also currently in development!

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to grow and enhance our programming.
