What's your favourite music to dance to with your littles? The feeling of Spring making it's way has got us energized and ready to throw open the windows and shake off the winter cobwebs. We're loving Basia Bulat over here. -Laurie

I've stared to view the first year of motherhood (regardless of how many children you've had) to be a time of planning. You start off trying to learn your babies habits and schedule so you can plan around it. Then it changes. You do this for a few months, most of your plans never coming to fruition. You realize you have the choice to keep making plans or surrender to your baby's plans and change the trajectory of your own. Lately I've started to plan much further in advance. I still dream about the sewing projects I want to start, the videos I want to make for this account, or what I'll be planting in my garden. But for now, day by day, I surrender to my baby's needs and maintain those daydreams as sweet little escapes during quiet moments. Does anyone else lay awake at night brimming with ideas and the anticipation of seeing your plans through some day? What do you think about?

Did you have a tour of your placenta after giving birth? This is a common occurrence at home births in our region and I find it so cool to get to know the organ that nourished a baby and see the size of the amniotic sack that contained them. -Laurie.

Keeping the intensity of birth real.

'So often women have confessed to me after their births that they feel they have "done it wrong" because they became vocal or felt out of control during birth. It makes me so sad to hear when women feel this way! Almost every unmedicated birth I have attended, mom has used vocalizations and movement and all sorts of coping mechanisms to get her baby into her arms. There is nothing wrong with that!!!! But often there is a feeling in the natural birth community that if you just trust your body and relax that baby will just slip out easily. Sometimes this may be the case, but usually not'.

Prepare yourself to do whatever you have to to bring your baby earthside. There is no right and wrong, and stressing about how you 'aren't coping well' just because you feel the need to roar while pushing or moan during contractions is counterproductive and will keep you from feeling like the powerful warrior you are.'

I've never minded doing the dishes. It's a great time to squeeze in some Netflix. However, I really dislike doing them when I'm pregnant. Standing sideways and twisting over to reach in the sink is so uncomfortable. What is your least favorite chore to do when that bump gets big? -Laurie
