It is with great pride that we celebrate Marie Greer-King, our Nurse Practitioner at AMGH, as she takes on the role of President of the Nurse Practitioners' Association of Ontario (NPAO).

Marie’s dedication, compassion, and expertise have a lasting impact on both our team and the patients we care for. In her new leadership role, she brings that same passion to driving change across the province by shaping healthcare policy, advocating for the Nurse Practitioner profession, and leading strategic initiatives that benefit patients and practitioners throughout Ontario. As the only organization solely focused on supporting and advancing Nurse Practitioners in the province, the NPAO plays a critical role in the healthcare system, and we are incredibly proud to see one of our own guiding this important work.

Please join us in congratulating Marie!

For some of us, the dream started at a very young age, fixing our teddy bear's "broken" arm, or comforting a friend who wasn’t feeling well. That instinct to care, to heal, and to make a difference has shaped who you are today. After years of dedication and hard work, that childhood spark has led you to this moment: the opportunity to bring those dreams to life.

Our hospital is looking for nurse externs — post-secondary nursing students eager to gain hands-on experience. We want to be the place that turns your knowledge into practical skills, where you can grow alongside professionals who share your passion for making a difference.

- Real-world experience in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Learn from mentors committed to excellence in care
- Start making an impact from day one

Meet John. John had a successful career in healthcare, but when his parents' needs grew, he made the thoughtful decision to step away from his full-time role to support them. Now, he spends his time managing their appointments, coordinating their care, and being there when it matters most.

Having found a balance in his caregiving responsibilities, John is now ready to return to work part-time, focusing on evening, weekend, or night shifts. He’s looking for a steady role that allows him to contribute to his pension again while continuing to care for his family.

If you're like John, balancing caregiving with the desire for meaningful part-time work, we would love to help you find the right opportunity.

As we transition into a season where respiratory illnesses are more common, we are taking proactive steps to keep all our staff across every department safe and healthy. To ensure our team is properly protected, we conducted quantitative N95 mask fit testing, a more precise method than qualitative tests. This test evaluates how well the mask fits by detecting air leakage around the seal, providing a numerical score for optimal protection.

Meet Lena. After starting her career in healthcare, Lena decided to step back to pursue another passion, running a small baking business specializing in homemade treats and custom dessert orders. As her business began to settle into a rhythm, especially during slower evenings, Lena felt ready to return to the workforce part-time. With flexible scheduling provided a month in advance, she’s able to maintain steady income while continuing to grow her business. And when her schedule allows, she has the freedom to pick up additional shifts.

If you're building something of your own but looking to re-enter the workplace like Lena, our variety of shift options can fit within your lifestyle. Contact us to learn more about our part-time opportunities, or visit our website www.huronhealthsystem.ca
