🌱 Celebrating Public Health Week! 🌱

During National Public Health Week, we’re proud to highlight the impact of the Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program and similar programs that support families from pregnancy through early childhood.

These important programs connects families with public health nurses and home visitors to promote:
🤱 Healthy pregnancies and births
👶 Positive parenting and child development
🏡 Safe, nurturing home environments
💬 Early identification of supports and resources

By empowering families early, we help build stronger communities and healthier futures for children across Ontario.

💚 Public health starts at the very beginning—and every family deserves the support to thrive.

We had such a fun morning trying out kicksledding! 🛷❄️

Did you know?

• Kicksledding has roots in northern regions where it was traditionally used as a practical way to travel across snow and ice. Indigenous communities, along with other northern cultures, have long used sleds for transportation, hunting, and carrying supplies.

• It’s a low-impact way to stay active in the winter, similar to walking or cross-country skiing, making it accessible for all ages and abilities.

• Being out on the land, like we were today, connects to important Indigenous values of wellness honouring nature, staying active, and gathering in community. ❄️

Our next (and final) session for the winter will be next Thursday, weather permitting! 😊

we have a new location though ➡️

We’ll now be meeting up near the entrance to the beach/ near the Rocky Point area.

Please head up to that area for 10:30 instead of the Makwa. Everyone who signed up has been notified. Please contact Taylor if you’re interested as there is limited sleds. Looking forward to seeing you all out there!
